Some characters in Orange Is the New Black are brand new to the prison scene, while others have been there for decades. Among the veterans is Frieda Berlin, played by Dale Soules. She's a tough, resourceful lady who's been working on her smart thinking and action since she was a girl. In season six, we learn more about her backstory with a flashback of her in prison as a young adult, played by Ashley Bacon.
Bacon made her acting debut in a short film, Eve Is Dead, back in 2010. Then she moved on to the TV movie Fluffers, then the short film My Friend Jenkins. If none of those sound familiar, perhaps you've heard of Girl/Girl Scene, a lesbian drama TV miniseries set in Kentucky. Bacon joined the show for a steamy reoccurring role in 2014 and 2015. Just before she appeared on OITNB, Bacon starred in a few more short films and a TV miniseries called HU$TLAZ.
There's a good chance we'll be seeing more of Bacon in the future; she has a couple projects that are awaiting release, short Leitmotif and movie After the River. It looks like we'll have to keep an eye out for this one!
