Popsugar Entertainment X-Men Dark Phoenix X-Men Dark Phoenix Cast in Real Life What the Wildly Attractive Cast of Dark Phoenix Looks Like in and Out of Their Costumes 4 June 2019 by Quinn Keaney Image Source: Everett Collection Do I love the X-Men? Of course! I've been a sucker for their dramatic power struggles, battles between good and evil, and their fierce appreciation of individuality. Oh, and their insane powers. (Duh.) Lasers shooting out of someone's eyes? The ability to stop a hurricane? Or a runaway train? These superheroes are some of the most unique. That uniqueness also extends to their physical appearances, which range from normal scruff to head-to-toe blue skin and a sharp tail. Of all the onscreen superheroes we've seen lately, the actors who play the X-Men have to endure some of the most dramatic transformations. Now that X-Men: Dark Phoenix is nearly out, you might need a reminder of who everyone is and what they all look like . . . on and off screen. Ahead, check out who plays your favourite mutants, and how their IRL looks differ from those of their characters. Jennifer Lawrence as Raven/Mystique Image Source: Everett Collection Of all the X-Men, Mystique has one of the most eye-catching appearances thanks to her bright blue, scaly skin and cherry red hair. 1 / 20 Jennifer Lawrence in Real Life Image Source: Getty / Tristan Fewings In real life, of course, JLaw is a blonde bombshell, which should surprise absolutely no one. 2 / 20 James McAvoy as Charles Xavier Image Source: Everett Collection At one point Charles did have hair, which we see in 2011's X-Men: First Class. But ever since then, James McAvoy has been rocking a bald cap like a champ. 3 / 20 Charles McAvoy in Real Life Image Source: Getty / David M. Benett He's got hair! And scruff! And a very thick Scottish accent! 4 / 20 Jessica Chastain as Vuk Image Source: Everett Collection New villain Vuk has hair that's so blonde, it's basically white. 5 / 20 Jessica Chastain in Real Life Image Source: Getty / Steve Granitz As for Chastain, who plays Vuk? She's one of Hollywood's most popular red heads. 6 / 20 Nicholas Hoult as Hank/Beast Image Source: Everett Collection The fact that a man as handsome as Nicholas Hoult is buried under layer upon layer of thick blue hair and prosthetics to play Beast is a travesty. But then again, who could play the kindhearted, soft-spoken scientist better than the British actor? 7 / 20 Nicholas Hoult in Real Life Image Source: Getty / Stefania D'Alessandro Fortunately for all of us, the British star's latest roles in Tolkien and The Current War offer us full view of his face. 8 / 20 Sophie Turner as Jean Grey Image Source: Everett Collection Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner steps into the shoes of yet another flame-haired heroine as Jean Grey, who goes through a volatile transformation in Dark Phoenix. 9 / 20 Sophie Turner in Real Life Image Source: Getty / Karwai Tang In real life, however, the UK native is actually a natural blond! She also has a bunch of tattoos, one of which we think Sansa Stark would absolutely approve of. 10 / 20 Tye Sheridan as Scott/Cyclops Image Source: Everett Collection In both X-Men: Apocalypse and X-Men: Dark Phoenix, Scott lives up to his nickname of Cyclops by rocking face-obscuring headgear to help him control the deadly lasers that blast out of his eyes. It starts off as just a fairly normal pair of sunglasses, but in the most recent film he wears a full-on visor across his eyes. 11 / 20 Tye Sheridan in Real Life Image Source: Getty / Paul Butterfield No eye shields here! 12 / 20 Alexandra Shipp as Storm Image Source: Everett Collection The Love, Simon actress rocks a short, platinum hairstyle to play Storm, but unsurprisingly, her hair doesn't normally look like that. (Though she could totally pull it off, just sayin'.) 13 / 20 Alexandra Shipp in Real Life Image Source: Getty / Frazer Harrison See! Her hair is a little more toned down when she's not in character as the weather-controlling mutant. 14 / 20 Kodi Smit-McPhee as Kurt Wagner/Nightcrawler Image Source: Everett Collection Just like Mystique and Beast, Nightcrawler has a pretty striking appearance. In addition to his bright blue skin covered in swirling symbols, he has yellow eyes, pointy teeth, and a sharp tail. 15 / 20 Kodi Smit-McPhee in Real Life Image Source: Getty / Chad Hurst As far as we know, Alpha actor Kodi Smit-McPhee does not have a tail. 16 / 20 Michael Fassbender as Erik/Magneto Image Source: Everett Collection Magneto's look changes quite a bit from First Class to Dark Phoenix, with him wearing everything from sharp suits to plaid button-downs and jeans. Obviously, his metal helmet is never far behind. 17 / 20 Michael Fassbender in Real Life Image Source: Getty / Han Myung-Gu It seems The Snowman actor prefers a more casual type of headgear IRL than he does while playing Erik. 18 / 20 Evan Peters as Peter/Quicksilver Image Source: Everett Collection Peter Maximoff, aka Quicksilver, has two elements that make up his signature style: a pair of goggles and his floppy silver hair. 19 / 20 Evan Peters in Real Life Image Source: Getty / Jon Kopaloff Evan Peters has brown curly hair when he's not filming as the wise-cracking speedster, FYI. 20 / 20 X-Men Dark PhoenixSophie TurnerMoviesX-MenNicholas Hoult
