You: Candace Returns, Joe Moves to LA, and More Things to Expect From Season 2

If you happened to watch Caroline Kepnes's bestselling thriller You on Lifetime before it moved to Netflix, you're probably waiting with bated breath for season two. Now that Beck (Elizabeth Lail) is dead and Candace (Ambyr Childers) has mysteriously returned and wants to talk to Joe (Penn Badgley) about "some unfinished business," we have so many unanswered questions. Like, where was Candace this whole time? Did Joe kill her brother? What's going to happen to Paco? Will Dr. Nicky be released from prison? Thankfully, we won't have to wait too long for answers, since season two will be on Netflix by the end of this year. Here's everything we know so far about season two.

Of course, Penn Badgley is returning. I mean, You simply would not be the same without him. Ambyr Childers will also return as Joe's ex-girlfriend Candace. "She's not nearly as dead as [Joe] thought," Gamble told Vanity Fair. Victoria Cartagena, who plays Paco's mom Claudia, is reportedly returning, along with Zach Cherry, Nicole King, and Kathryn Gallagher, who portray Ethan, Lynn, and Annika, respectively.

It's also possible that Elizabeth Lail and Shay Mitchell, who play Beck and Peach, may return, though it might be in ghost form. "I think [Joe] would feel haunted by some of the things that he felt compelled to do in season one," Gamble previously told Variety. "He certainly wasn't doing this stuff because he enjoyed it . . . We didn't write the character to be a bloodthirsty serial killer. We wrote him to be certainly misguided and, at times, one could argue, unhinged but always for what would seem like compelling and noble reasons."

And what about John Stamos as the swoon-worthy Dr. Nicky? Well, according to Gamble, "it's too soon to say definitely," but they have "been talking a lot about the character" and are "excited to keep telling that story."

Who Else Is Starring in You Season 2?

Along with the original cast, You has added some new characters to spice things up! James Scully will take on the role of Forty Quinn, who is the brother of Joe's new love interest. Speaking of Joe's new pursuit, Victoria Pedretti will play Love Quinn, "an aspiring chef who doesn't care about social media." Jenna Ortega — who you may remember from Jane the Virgin — is also joining the cast as Ellie, a teenager who "grew up fast in the big city." Meanwhile, Robin Lord Taylor will have a recurring role as a character named "Will" and Charlie Barnett is hopping on board as Gabe, whose best friend is Love Quinn. Well, this is going to be interesting.

Where Will You Season 2 Take Place?

Given that the second book in the series takes place in LA, it makes sense that season two will also be headed there. "Joe Goldberg comes to LA and he is a die-hard New Yorker so I can't say that he comes to LA and he instantly falls in love with the place," Gamble told THR. "At least at first glance, this is not Joe's kind of town, which is delightful. Starting to talk about what Joe would think of Angelenos has been so much fun in the room."

However, it seems season two may stray from the book a lot more than season one did. "We never really sweat how much we hew to the letter of the law when we're adapting Caroline [Kepnes]'s books," Gamble explained. "It so happened [with season one] that a lot of stuff remained intact, but the guiding principle has always been to kind of bring to life the spirit of the story and not to obsess too much over plot details . . . Caroline has always been on board with that, and I think that's going to continue to be the path in season two."

How Scary Will You Season 2 Be?

According to showrunner Sera Gamble's recent interview with Us Weekly, the second season of the series will be "darker than season one," although she didn't get into any specifics. "I would say that season two of You, kind of, doubles down on some of the stuff that you might come to expect," she added. "Moving the show to Los Angeles brought out a whole different side of Joe Goldberg . . . at least one scene comes to mind that's gorier and scarier than anything we had in season one."
