Adele's Genius References in Her "Easy on Me" Video Pay Homage to Some of Her Classic Music Videos

15/10/2021 - 07:55 PM

You can always count on Adele to turn us into an emotional wreck with her music videos, and her latest for her single "Easy on Me" [1] is no different. The singer finally dropped the video for her highly anticipated single from her upcoming 30 album [2] on 14 Oct., and it's giving us major flashbacks to some of her previous videos. Thanks to some handy detective work from Adele's passionate fans, the Easter eggs from the video were spotted in no time (cue the Leonardo DiCaprio [3] pointing meme). Ahead, check out all the references we've decoded from the "Easy on Me" video.

Adele Leaving the House From "Hello" in "Easy on Me"

Everyone knows Adele's truth lives through her music, and as she recently mentioned to British Vogue [4] about her forthcoming album, her new music will be about the "self-destruction, then self-reflection and then sort of self-redemption" she's endured during her divorce [5] from ex-husband Simon Konecki. The house she's seen exiting in the "Easy on Me" video is the same one she moved into during her "Hello" video. The scene where she's walking out of the door of that house is allegedly a reference to leaving her husband and filing for divorce.

The "Rolling in the Deep" Chair Reference in "Easy on Me"

In Adele's 2010 "Rolling in the Deep" video, she can be seen sitting in a chair of a barely furnished home, and yes, that's the same chair she's sitting in for this particular shot of "Easy on Me". It appears that she's also in the same exact room of the house as well. Of course, this time the room is fully furnished and repainted. The subtle call-out makes us wonder if her next visual will follow the same pattern.
