Aldi’s Banana Christmas 2021 Advert Stars Marcus Rashford

Aldi’s Adorable Christmas Advert Has a Surprising Star — It’s Marcus Radishford

Aldi's Christmas advert, "A Christmas Carrot", is finally here, and alongside Aldi's own Cuthbert the Caterpillar — being arrested by bananas in the opening sequence, we might add — the short video stars Marcus Rashford. Based on Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol, the advert features the footballer as a radish named "Marcus Radishford" (which, we must admit, is pretty great), and he aims to spread the message of Christmas. First introduced as someone who's "always helping children", Rashford eventually manages to change the ways of Ebenezer Scrooge, played by the banana.

Rashford shared the advert on Twitter, with a sweet caption that read "Well done @AldiUK. This is much bigger than a Christmas ad ( …) might not be Oscar-worthy but glad I could play my part." Rashford has been in the news already this week, as he recently collected his official MBE from Prince William, after being added to the Queen's honours list back in 2020. The striker attended the ceremony along with his mum, Melanie Rashford, which took place at Windsor Castle on 9 Nov.
