Alicia Keys Cover of Flo Rida's "My House" Video

Alicia Keys' Cover of Flo Rida's "My House" Has a Clear Message: "You Can’t Come to My House"

Alicia Keys was on the piano again on Thursday night, performing a pared back cover of Flo Rida's hit song, "My House" on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Keys has changed every single word of the song to suit the current situation that has us all on lockdown in our homes, to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the song, Keys not only instructs people to stay home, but also makes it very clear that no one is welcome at her house right now. Not that anyone would want to be there, as she jokes that her kids are very, very loud, and she's pretty busy homeschooling them anyway. Despite the very serious topic, Keys's lyrics are actually hilarious, and so damn catchy. It's incredible that she was able to fit the lyrics to the tune, so well that I'll be singing this all day: "A message from the heart that comes from me, your favourite girl on the keys: you can't come to my crib, gotta defeat COVID, now I know what Zoom is, we've just got to stay-ay-ay in."

Seriously if Alicia Keys swapping the words "welcome to my house" for "you can't come to my house" isn't the truest reflection of the strange times we're in, then we don't know what is. You can watch the full video above, but fair warning, it'll be stuck in your head all day.
