Alicia Keys's Tiny Desk Concert Is Such a Vibe That She Got the Crowd Singing Along

Alicia Keys [1] has the vibe of everyone's favourite English teacher who introduced them to the book that changed their life forever during their most formative years. She just radiates a sense of gentleness and benevolence that makes us all feel at peace — which is probably how she got her entire crowd singing along [2] during her Tiny Desk Concert for NPR. The Grammy-winner gave her fans wonderfully intimate performances of her 2019 single "Show Me Love" and her latest single "Underdog," which she sang during this year's Grammys to raise the spirits of the freshly heartbroken audience [3] following emotional tributes to Nipsey Hussle and Kobe and Gianna Bryant [4].

And of course, Keys couldn't leave the tiny desk (which she was shocked to realise is pretty tiny) without a couple of treats for the fans. The singer debuted a song from her upcoming self-titled album, Alicia, which is set to be released this fall. "Gramercy Park," she explained, draws on the singer's experience with being too selfless and how wanting to appease other people can cause you to lose yourself. And just when she was meant to wrap up her three-song concert, she gave in to the crowd's cries for an encore and performed her breakout 2001 single, "Fallin'." To no one's surprise, it sounds just as good, if not better than it did all those years ago. Treat yourself to the concert above!
