Angela Kinsey Originally Auditioned to Play Pam on The Office, but, Uh, It Didn't Go So Well
The Office ended over six years ago, and yet we're still learning new things about the seminal comedy series. Case in point: Angela Kinsey, who portrayed Angela Martin, originally auditioned for the role of Pam Beesly. Kinsey elaborated on her revelation in a recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show with her former costar and current podcast cohost Jenna Fischer, who, of course, actually ended up playing Pam.
"I auditioned for the role of Pam, and I went in, you guys, and I thought I did so great," said Kinsey. "It was a room full of people, and there was a moment where Michael is fake-firing Pam in front of Ryan the temp to pull a prank, and Pam starts to cry and calls him a jerk. And I called him a jerk. Everyone started laughing, and I was like, 'I don't think that was supposed to be a laugh. I think I missed something.'"
In other words, Kinsey was a bit "too feisty for Pam." As we all now know, however, things worked out in the end: "They brought me back and said, 'Hey, we've got a judgy, snarky lady in accounting.'" Watch her tell the story above.
