The Title of Ariana Grande's "34+35" Is a Real "I See What You Did There" Moment

Ariana Grande is getting explicit. A week after releasing her new single, "Positions," along with a timely music video that saw her as commander in chief, the cheeky pop star gave fans (and, quite frankly, the world) something to smile about by releasing her sixth studio album, also called Positions. And even for someone whose entire discography is the embodiment of a flirty wink, Grande's latest offering is decidedly sexy. To get into specifics, I now call to the stand "34+35."

The second track on the album, "34+35" is about a steamy night in. The chorus goes, "Can you stay up all night? / F*ck me 'til the daylight," which is then followed by "thirty-four, thirty-five." Now, I've never been a maths whiz — hence why I became a writer, for better or worse — so I didn't immediately make out the meaning behind these seemingly innocuous numbers. Opening up my calculator app and adding up the numbers in the song title, however, delivered a truly divine "I see what you did there" moment: 69. The answer is 69.

At the end of the song, a whispery Grande herself reveals the meaning. "Means I wanna '69' with you," she says, adding, "No sh*t. Maths class — never was good." And there you have it: a song on Positions dedicated to one very specific position! Listen to it below if you haven't already and don't forget to stream Positions — and go vote.
