All the Times That Betty and Jughead Made Us Believe in Love on Riverdale

10/10/2019 - 06:30 PM

Three cheers for Bughead! When it comes to Riverdale [1] couples there are a lot that we ship, but Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) and Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse) have been the OG couple that rises above all the rest. For three seasons, we've watched them fall in love, solve insane crimes together and work at their high school newspaper side by side, because they are teenagers after all.

As fans brace themselves for another wild, dark and twisted season of the Netflix drama [2], we're looking back at the cutest Bughead moments so far . . . and there are a lot. From season one when they first started to work together to solve the mystery of who killed Jason Blossom (Trevor Stines) to their romantic kissing moments and Serpent adventures, Betty and Jug are almost too cute handle week after week. They are truly better together and never back down from a fight, and the way they look at each other makes us swoon with relationship envy. Check out the most adorable moments from Bughead in our gallery ahead.

Season 1, Ep. 3: When They Revived the School Paper

One of Betty and Jughead's, or "Juggie" as Betty sweetly calls him, first moments together (or one that showed the potential of their romance at least) was when Betty enlisted Jug's help to revive the Blue and Gold, aka the student newspaper at Riverdale [4] High. Working together on the paper unites them in a mission to solve Jason Blossom's murder and it's only the beginning of them cracking cases side by side.

Season 1, Ep. 5: When They Get All Dressed Up

This might be one of the best moments on the show, simply because of Jughead's smirk when he sees Betty all dressed up and she sees him in a suit. They are getting ready to attend Jason Blossom's funeral and if the glances between them weren't telling enough of what was to come, we don't know what is.

Season 1, Ep. 6: When They Go Romeo & Juliet On Us

This episode was one for the Bughead memory book. After Betty invites Jughead over for breakfast, and things get weird with her mom Alice, the duo learns where Betty's sister Polly is being kept. Later in the episode they visit her at the Sisters of Quiet Mercy and upon returning home Jug returns to her bedroom window and pulls a Romeo. "Hey there, Juliet" he says from outside her window, and it still makes us swoon.

Season 1, Ep. 6: Their First Kiss

During the same episode, Betty starts to freak out about following in her family's footsteps, which causes Jug to try and calm her down. When that doesn't work, he kisses her in her room and it's magic.

Season 1, Ep. 10: The Birthday Blunder

Betty discovers that it's Jughead's birthday, so as the perfect girlfriend (yes, by this point they are boyfriend and girlfriend) she decides to throw him a small surprise party, although she's been warned that he hates surprises. The party doesn't exactly go as planned with half of the school showing up, and Jughead freaking out, but we love how much Betty cares about Jug. In the end of the episode they kiss and make up, so it's a win in our book.

Season 1, Ep. 13: When They First Say, “I Love You”

After Jug is sent to Southside High, and FP Jones is stuck in jail due to his part in getting rid of Jason's body, Betty and Jug head back to his trailer to be together. Betty vows to help get FP fair treatment and out of jail, which prompts Jug to tell her he loves her for the first time. She says it back and the two start hooking up before they are interrupted by the Serpents who bring Jug a leather jacket proving that he is one of them no matter what.

Season 2, Ep. 8: When Betty Does Her Striptease

After a short breakup, Betty and Jug are back together during this episode . . . sort of. Betty decides that she wants to be a part of Jug's Serpent world, which leads her to do the "Serpent Dance." Ballsy to say the least. Her striptease, however, makes Jughead push her away (ultimately to protect her), which stinks but Betty showing how dedicated she is to Jug is nice.

Season 2, Ep. 9: Christmas Is For Lovers

Even when Bughead was on a break, they made us love them in this episode. The two exchange Christmas gifts that are perfect for one another because, let's face it, they are perfect together. Juggie bought Betty a 1987 copy of Beloved by Toni Morrison, her favourite writer, and Betty bought him a vintage typewriter.

Season 2, Ep. 12: The Couple Heats Things Up

Hello, how can we not talk about the couple's first time?! After a few episodes of not being together (which was torture), Betty and Jughead reconcile once and for all and finally sleep together. Too bad, once Betty returns home she quickly learns her mom and so-called "brother" have murdered a man.

Season 2, Ep. 13: When They Got Rid of the Evidence

In order to help her mom get rid of the evidence of murder in their home, which was thanks to her mom and Chic, Betty enlists her boyfriend to give her a hand. The two must get rid of the murder victim's car that was left behind, which oddly enough brings the couple closer together.

Season 2, Ep. 17: Serpent Knight to the Rescue

Jug saves Betty and Alice when the real owner of the "hidden car" comes looking for the dead guy and another creepy man try to come into the Cooper home. Thank goodness!

Season 2, Ep. 22: The Serpent King and His Queen

More happy feels and sexy time came towards the end of season two and we're not made about it. Following Jug's brush with death the episode before (he was beaten almost to death by Penny and the Ghoulies), Betty and Jug are back and living in sin in his trailer together. During this episode, Jug asks Betty to be his Serpent Queen and our hearts are full just thinking about it.

Season 3, Ep. 1: The Beanie Exchange

While soaking up the last of Summer over Labour Day weekend on a getaway with Archie and Veronica, Betty and Jughead once again steal the show. During the later part of the episode, the lovebirds are sitting by the fire and Jughead puts his beanie on Betty saying, "From now on, we're partners. In Serpents, in life, all of it, OK?" Ugh, swoon.

Season 3, Ep. 4: When They Became Their Parents

Technically this episode has the Riverdale [5] kids playing their parents, so Betty is Alice and Jug is FP, but the chemistry between the two is so hot that we had to mention it.

Season 3, Ep. 16: When They Sang a Duet

This episode has a lot going on since it is the annual musical episode. While the kids prepare for The Heathers musical, which is brilliant, fans get to see Betty and Jughead sing a duet that we never knew we needed. Then, they team up to burn down his trailer, because it is currently being used as a drug den by his mother who has returned to Riverdale [6]. The joint arson adventure is somehow totally on brand for these two, don't you think?

Season 3. Ep. 20: G&G Prom Night Adventure

In order to bring the Gargoyle King out and try to stop him once and for all, Betty and Jughead dress the part at prom, play a massive game, and look amazing together (per usual). At one point in the night, Jug is crowned prom king but when Betty is supposed to be dubbed prom queen he realises she's missing. She is being hunted by the Black Hood, who is back and it's terrifying. In the end, Jug finds her, and they are reminded once again that they must do this together.

Seasons 1, 2, and 3: Any and All Detective Work For the Duo

In all three seasons of Riverdale [7], Betty and Jughead have teamed up to discover who was a killer in town, how to stop them, and which people were innocent. They found Jason Blossom's killer, unmasked the Black Hood, faced off against the Gargoyle King, and dug into The Farm. They are truly the dynamic duo.
