We're almost a quarter of the way into the new year, and it's becoming clear that brighter days and having things to do once again are finally ahead. While the countdown to summer begins once again, we are continuing to find new ways to get through this bizarre year — with listening to great new music still being one of them.

This month, we're still paying close attention to the rising stars of 2022, which includes breakout artist PinkPantheress, who just released her new single, "bbycakes", in collaboration with Mura Masa, Lil Uzi Vert, and Shygirl. Along with PinkPantheress, British singer-songwriters like Bakar are taking centre stage in our playlist, following the release of his powerful debut album, "Nobody's Home".

With so many new songs set to be released this month (and this year, undoubtedly), it can be hard to keep track of who's doing what — and whether or not it's worth listening to, more importantly. Well, that's where we come in. Every month, we'll be rounding up the best songs from the UK music scene for your listening pleasure. Whether it's another iconic hit from Doja Cat or a soulful single from Hope Tala, we've got the songs to see you through this new month.

Bree Runway is back with another banger, and this time it's a little slower than her previous releases. "Somebody Like You" is undoubtedly a song about love, and one that shows off Runway's softer side.

"Band Aid" is the latest release from TikTok MUA-turned-musician Abby Roberts, and it's another seriously dreamy track. Most of Roberts's music wouldn't feel out of place in a teen film or coming-of-age drama, and that's exactly why we love her.

Similarly, beabadoobee's fiery new single, "Talk", is the exact kind of punk resurgence we're living for right now, and it's the perfect addition to any summery playlist.

Fans of Disclosure will be pleased to know that they're not going anywhere fast, and not only that, but they've teamed up with pop princess Raye for a sultry garage anthem that you won't be able to get out of your head.

Ahead of Koffee's "Gifted" album release, the Jamaican singer has graced us with the presence of her latest single, "Shine". Her distinctive vocals are paired with a chilled reggae beat, and it makes for a truly sensational listen.

A dazzling new collaboration from Rex Orange County and Tyler, The Creator is all we needed this month. "Open A Window" fuses Rex's distinctive voice with Tyler's dynamic flow, and it's definitely a winner.

A new age remake of a total classic, Aitch has teamed up with R&B soul queen Ashanti to give her 2002 hit "Baby" the ultimate makeover.

Megan Thee Stallion and Dua Lipa have collaborated on a track that will be remembered for decades. "Sweetest Pie" sees Lipa's smooth and sultry voice paired with Megan's bad b*tch energy, and together they make the ultimate anthem.

Devon-born, London-based artist Abisha is about to take the world by storm. Her latest release, "Home To You", effortlessly blends R&B vocals with a catchy pop chorus, and even after just one listen, it's the kind of song you're going to remember.

Premiered on BBC Radio 1 as Clara Amfo's hottest record, Nilüfer Yanya's "the dealer" is a refreshing addition to the alt-indie genre. Yanya's born to a Turkish father and Irish-Barbadian mother, and it's clear that her melting pot of cultural influences are only partially what make her music so sonically interesting.

"Bam Bam" is the ultimate summer anthem, if ever you've heard one. A funky collaboration with Cuban-American Camila Cabello and Ed Sheeran, the track has a fusion of cultural influences. Seemingly inspired by Cabello's recent breakup with Shawn Mendes, the song is about accepting defeat and moving on.

"Illuminous" is the latest release from Priya Ragu, and it's just as high-tempo, genre-bending, and eclectic as you'd expect. On the track, Ragu said that "I believe we are all beings of light. It's a journey that starts before we enter this world and continues while we have this human experience, and then remains after we leave this earth. I also believe that we all have this one true unique gift that could bring us back to our true selves. Once you have found that, the light within you shines so bright that you become invincible. This is how I feel at this stage in my life and with this song I want to encourage others to find that one thing. Apart from all that, it's also a turn up song, so you know what you gotta do!"

Another dramatic release from Charli XCX, "Baby" is sinister, sultry, and decidedly self-assured. It's a song that feels just as right in the shower as it would on stage at the West End.

The song that every "Euphoria" fan has been talking about this month, for better or for worse, is "Elliot's Song" by Dominic Fike and featuring surprisingly stunning vocals from actor Zendaya.

"Holding Back" marks the highly anticipated return of alt-pop artist BANKS. Aside from the 2021 single "Skinnydipped", the track is the first new music to be released since 2019. It's an impressive combination of electro-pop and alternative R&B, with deeply textured vocals and self-assured lyrics.

British singer, songwriter, and model Bakar released his debut album, "Nobody's Home", earlier this year, and it's had a pretty positive reception from the general public and music critics alike. "Free" is the new single from the album, and it's a pleading look at the concept of freedom, fused with delicate beats and refreshingly honest lyrics.

So far, no music news has been as thrilling this year as the news of Avril Lavigne's return. The singer's comeback album, "Love Sux", was released at the end of February and comes complete with plenty of pop punk bangers. "Bois Lie", featuring Machine Gun Kelly, is no exception, and the high-tempo anthem makes for the perfect addition to any workout.

This new gen reimagining of 3 Of A Kind's "Babycakes" is a very fun one and it's all thanks to Mura Masa, PinkPantheress, Lil Uzi Vert, and Shygirl. A fusion of garage, emo rap, and trap, the track breathes new life into an already very iconic song.
