Brie Larson has been revealing a handful of interesting tidbits about her life and career on her YouTube channel [1], most recently chatting about her experience within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In a video posted on Sept. 3, the 30-year-old actress opened up about her auditioning process for Marvel, and it's not at all what you'd expect.

She recalled Marvel reaching about the role of Captain Marvel while she was filming 2017's Kong: Skull Island. "I was like, 'Oh, I can't do that. I have too much anxiety. That's too much for me. I don't think I can handle that,'" she said. Marvel then contacted her again a few more times and was met with the same scepticism. "I was like, 'I'm too much of an introvert. That's way too big of a thing for me,'" Larson added. "It was beyond my comprehension." After finally meeting with the studio and hearing their vision of creating a female-focussed blockbuster, Larson was on board. "I was very moved by what they were trying to achieve, what they were talking about, and it felt very progressive," she noted.

Larson also ran through a list of movies she auditioned for before being passed up. Ironically, two of those movies were 2010's Iron Man 2 and 2011's Thor. Luckily, everything worked out between her and the MCU. Watch Larson reminisce on the full Captain Marvel [2] audition experience ahead!
