Netflix's Chadwick Boseman: Portrait of an Artist Will Honour the Actor Like Never Before

The life of actor Chadwick Boseman will be honoured in a new Netflix documentary special, titled Chadwick Boseman: Portrait of an Artist, which will air on 17 April, 2021. The special is set to be an intimate look at Boseman's life and career, and will explore the acting process which informed his most transformative performances including Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and Black Panther. Boseman's co-stars and friends, including Viola Davis, Denzel Washington, Spike Lee, George C. Wolfe, Branford Marsalis, and Phylicia Rashad will also feature in the documentary, exploring the Oscar-nominated actor's extraordinary commitment to his craft.

On 14 April, Netflix released a teaser trailer for the special which featured a voice-over from the actor himself. "I am an artist. People call me an actor. I wouldn't necessarily call myself an actor. I would call myself an artist", he explained. The trailer also features a heartfelt quote from Viola Davis which said that "you know you have to step up when you're in his presence. He's looking at your work and he's, like, really hyper-focused, on the craft, on the process. That's Chad."

Chadwick Boseman: Portrait of an Artist will air on Netflix on 17 April, for a limited run of 30 days. Watch the full trailer above.
