Could Carrie Have Saved Mr. Big on And Just Like That . . .? Chris Noth Weighs In

There was no saving Mr. Big from dying in And Just Like That... [1]. His sudden death [2] in the first episode of the Sex and the City [3] reboot after riding on a Peloton [4] sparked some serious backlash. Big (Chris Noth [5]) had a fatal heart attack on his way to the shower, but he was still breathing when his wife, Carrie Bradshaw, (Sarah Jessica Parker [6]) returned home. Rather than calling 911, they stared into each other's eyes as he died. Why didn't Carrie try and save him?! Well, according to Noth, the plan was always for Big to die early.

Regarding the show's plotline, the 67-year-old actor recently revealed to Vogue that "there was nowhere to go with it but six feet under [7]" and that he was "really happy" with how director Michael Patrick King crafted the end of Big. "There had to be that last moment and no words, no corny dialogue, just a look, and I thought [King] did it so beautifully," Noth said. "It was very important for both of us to find a way to have that last moment together, not that she walks in and finds me dead in the bathroom. That was essential for me to come back to."

Due to the crazed fandom, Noth also revealed they had to do many "fake scenes of me entering places" so that Big's death wasn't obvious. But, all those scenes do have fans wondering if Big will return in future episodes in a fever dream or in flashbacks. It's possible! "There may be a haunting that happens," Noth teased in his conversation with Vogue. I'm not quite in a forgiving mood as it pertains to Big's death, but I'll take future appearances as a small token for my troubles. Please respect my privacy at this time.
