DaBaby and Roddy Ricch continued the trend of speaking out against racist police brutality during the 2020 BET Awards [1] with their chilling "Rockstar" performance. DaBaby opened the virtual performance with his face against the pavement and a police officer's knee on his neck, a heartbreaking call-out to the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis [2]. As the camera slowly pans up, DaBaby raps along to the song's "Black Lives Matter Remix" that tells the story of his encounters with police brutality and racial profiling [3], before the video cuts to the clouds. DaBaby and Roddy Ricch bring viewers back to Earth as they rap next to a burning cop car while surrounded by protesters wearing masks and shirts reading "I am George Floyd," "I am Trayvon Martin," and "I am Breonna Taylor [4]." As the video comes to a close, the end card reads: "In loving memory to all the lives lost to racism and police brutality." Watch the video above.
