Demi Lovato [1] is back with new music following a two year hiatus. The 27-year-old singer quietly dropped the track "Anyone" before her Grammys performance on Jan. 26, and the lyrics hint at the heartbreaking journey she took before her drug overdose in 2018. In an earlier interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe [2], Lovato said she's "ready" for a comeback with this personal single.

"At the time when I was recording it, I almost listened back and hear these lyrics as a cry for help," Demi said, revealing that she wrote the song four days before her overdose. "And you kind of listen back to it and you kind of think, how did nobody listen to this song and think, 'Let's help this girl.' You know what I'm saying? . . . I was singing this song and I didn't even realise that the lyrics were so heavy and emotional until after the fact."

The words Lovato chose are an insight into her past internal pain: "I tried to talk to my piano. I tried to talk to my guitar. Talked to my imagination. Confided into alcohol," she sings. "Anyone, please send me anyone. Lord, is there anyone? I need someone. Anyone, please send me anyone. Oh, Lord, is there anyone?"

Performing this song marks a new chapter for Lovato, and rumour has it she'll follow it up with another track titled "Survivor." Give "Anyone" a listen below.
