Did Love Kill Her Husband in You Season 2?

Uh, Did We Completely Miss This Obvious Murder in You Season 2?

YOU

In season two of Netflix's You, Joe Goldberg finally meets a true love to kill for. Little did he know that Love Quinn, the apple of his eye, has a twisted mind of her own. By the end of the season, she's killed not one, not two, but three people: her au pair, Delilah, and Candace. Still, astute viewers have theorized that there may have been another victim whose death went under the radar: James, Love's late husband.

In a recent video, Jan Gilbert from Flicks and the Citybreaks down this twisted theory about Love. Basically, we know that Love is a widow and that her late husband James was vaguely ill. But we don't know how he passed away, which should raise suspicion. It's pretty weird when Love empathizes with Joe killing Beck, saying that he did bad things because he was trapped in a bad relationship.

There are two main motives for Love to kill James. First of all, Love confesses to Joe that her husband had hurt her too. Perhaps he hurt her by not seeing eye to eye about starting a family. James wasn't keen on having children with her because they were poor and had agreed not to use her parents' money. And speaking of the Quinns, James's desire to stay separate from her family may have also rubbed Love the wrong way.

So how did Love actually kill her late husband? Well, Love is a chef, so she likely knows what food compounds can poison a person. Some fruit seeds, for example, contain cyanide, so she may have slipped James some crushed-up poison. Strangely, she tells James in one flashback that he was "detoxing." Love could have been slowly poisoning him over time, which might be why the doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong with him. That, or she could have used his actual illness or addiction as a cover for any lethal dosage she could have given him. Even if an autopsy revealed otherwise, she has family money to hide any investigation.

In any case, Joe should watch his back come season three. While Love's muffins look good as hell, Joe should be wary of them if he snoops around their neighbour.
