The Dark Knight is officially back. On Friday, 4 March, "The Batman" starring Robert Pattinson officially hit cinema. The new film sees the billionaire Bruce Wayne masking up as the Batman as he works with lieutenant James Gorden (Jeffrey Wright) and Selina Kyle/Catwoman (Zoë Kravitz) to track down the Riddler (Paul Dano) using a series of cryptic messages left behind by the villain. Along the way, the Caped Crusader comes face to face with two other adversaries: the Penguin (Colin Farrell) and Carmine Falcone (John Turturro). While the film is packed with riddles for the masked vigilante to solve, one of the biggest questions fans are always left with as the end credits role on a superhero film is the same. So, is there a clip at the end of "The Batman"? Let's break it down.

Is There an End-Credit Scene at the End of "The Batman"?

Spoiler alert: There isn't.

Instead of a postcredit scene, there's an easter egg that teases one more mystery from the Riddler for viewers to solve. It's literally a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, so you'll want to pay close attention in order to catch it.

Once the final credits roll, one of the Riddler's green question marks appears on screen before the words "Good Bye" are typed out in a similar format to how the Riddler communicated with Batman throughout the film. Then, a glitch happens, which is followed by a quick flash of jumbled text.

What Does the Text at the End of "The Batman" Say?

The mysterious text that appears is actually the URL for the Riddler's website, El Rata Alada, which means "the winged rat" in Spanish.

While Batman tries to track down the Riddler during the film, he's led to the mysterious Rata Alada website, where the villain offers more clues for the vigilante to decipher. Months before "The Batman" hit theatres, Warner Bros. launched a real-life Rata Alada website in December 2021 to promote the film. Fans were able to engage in simulated conversations with the Riddler, and if they successfully solved his riddles, bonus content for the film would be unlocked.

Now, when viewers head to the site, the Riddler gives them three riddles they must solve to unlock a major easter egg.

What Are the Answers to the Riddler's Riddles on the Rata Alada Website?

The answers to the Riddler's three questions are "Mask," "Renewal," and "Confusion." The questions are randomised each time, so users will have to do a bit of thinking in order to successfully solve the puzzles.

Once you type in the correct answers, you'll be rewarded with a download of a zip folder called "What_Am_I" containing a file named "Thomas_Wayne_Lies." To unlock the file, type in the password "promise." You'll then be able to watch a campaign video by Thomas Wayne that the Riddler edited.

What Does the Thomas Wayne Video From the Rata Alada Website Mean?

The video features the phrases "Hush!" and "The Truth About Gotham" plastered over images of Thomas Wayne. This is likely an easter egg referencing a Batman comics character named Hush, aka Thomas Elliot. He tries to kill his own parents, but Thomas Wayne saves them, causing Elliot to blame him for not being able to inherit their fortune. Elliot then teams up with the Riddler and becomes the villain Hush.

The name "Elliot" actually gets referenced in "The Batman" movie itself. We find out that while Thomas Wayne runs for mayor, he asks Falcone to silence a reporter who has dirt on his wife, Martha Wayne. Bruce's butler, Alfred Pennyworth, reveals Thomas Wayne only wanted Falcone to intimidate the reporter, but Falcone took it too far and killed him. This could set up Thomas Elliot's return to seek revenge on Bruce for what his father inadvertently did to the reporter.

Will There Be a "The Batman" Sequel?

During a Feb. 23 interview with The Independent, "The Batman" director Matt Reeves teased a potential sequel, so not only is a sequel possible, but Hush may make an appearance in it. It's also possible Hush will make an appearance in one of "The Batman" TV spinoffs that are currently in the works.

"I really believe in what we've done and I'd be excited to tell more stories," Reeves told the publication. "We are already telling other stories in the streaming space, we're doing stuff on HBO Max, we're doing a Penguin show with Colin, which is gonna be super cool. And we're working on some other stuff too, but we have started talking about another movie."

Watch Reeves talk about a potential sequel starting at the 54-minute mark in the video ahead.

There are so many questions we still have after watching "The Batman," and it seems we'll have to wait just a little bit longer to figure out the answers.
