Dolly Alderton's best-selling book, Everything I Know About Love [1], is being adapted into a seven-part series for BBC. On 24 August, a sneak peek into the show's cast was announced, and already we've spotted some familiar faces. Focusing on the story of best friends Maggie and Birdy, the series will explore their suburban adolescence in the early noughties, as they navigate bad dates, heartaches, and everything in between.

The official synopsis says that "Maggie and Birdy, besties since school, finally land in London to live it large, when the unexpected happens – dependable Birdy gets a steady boyfriend. A generous, funny, warm-hearted and uplifting Sex & The City for millennials which covers bad dates and squalid flat-shares, heartaches and humiliations, and, most importantly, unbreakable female friendships."

Maggie will be played by Emma Appleton, who you may recognise from The Witcher, and Birdy will be played by Bel Powley, star of Diary of a Teenage Girl and The Morning Show.

"I am beyond thrilled with every actor we have on board for Everything I Know About Love. Aisha Bywaters has helped us find our dream cast and we are so excited to see them inhabit the world of the show and bring its stories and relationships to life," Alderton said of the news.

Emma Appleton as Maggie

Emma Appleton will play the role of Maggie, the character based on Alderton herself. After she starred in the likes of Netflix's The Witcher, Pistol, and Channel 4's spy thriller Traitors, we're very excited to see her and Powley on screen together!

Bel Powley as Birdy

Powley will play one of two starring roles in the series, the character of Birdy. Previously known for her roles in The Morning Show, Informant, and Diary of a Teenage Girl, she's no stranger to the screen, and will take on the role inspired by Alderton's real-life best friend, Farly.

Aliyah Odoffin as Amara

Odoffin will be making her on-screen debut, playing the role of Amara. It's not yet clear as to what involvement the character of Amara has in the novel, but we're excited to see the RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art) alumnus in her first ever TV role.

Connor Finch as Street

Connor Finch will play the role of Street, another character who hasn't really been explained yet. Fun fact: Finch actually spent his early years as a dancer, training in tap, jazz, modern, and ballet, before becoming a musician.

Jordan Peters as Neil

Jordan Peters will be playing the role of Neil, after starring in Pirates and Gangs of London, and Blue Story back in 2019. The actor has also previously had a short role in Call The Midwife [2], playing the character of Ade Babayaro.

Marli Siu as Nell

Marli Siu, who you may recognise from Our Ladies, Anna and the Apocalypse, and Alex Rider, is set to join the cast of Everything I Know About Love playing the role of Nell.

Ryan Bown as Nathan

Ryan Bown will take to the screen in his debut role, playing the character of Nathan. With so many cast-members making their first ever appearances on screen, we're really looking forward to watching them in their new roles.
