Austin Butler Is the King of Rock and Roll in the "Elvis" Trailer

Austin Butler [1] transforms into the King of Rock and roll [2] in Baz Luhrmann's forthcoming biopic of Elvis Presley. The trailer for the highly anticipated movie finally arrived on 17 Feb.

The three-minute clip walks us through Presley's captivating music and his rise to fame amid America's ever-changing cultural landscape. The trailer also introduces some key players in Presley's story, including Olivia DeJonge as Priscilla Presley, Kelvin Harrison Jr. [3] as B.B. King, and Tom Hanks [4] as Presley's manager, Colonel Tom Parker — who is teased as the villain of the story in the clip.

Luhrmann announced Butler as his Presley [5] back in 2019. Of his dazzling role, Butler told The Hollywood Reporter [6] that he prepped for the movie by first working on his Presley voice. "When I began the process, I set out to get my voice to be identical," he said. "That instills fear. So that got the fire burning. For a year before we started shooting, I was doing voice coaching." Luhrmann also clarified what we'll hear of Presley's voice in the movie, stating that it's Butler's voice as young Presley and a blend of his voice and Presley's voice when the character ages.

"Elvis" arrives in cinemas on 24 June. Watch the trailer above.
