7 Things We Want to See on Emily in Paris Season 2 Instead of a Love Triangle

08/10/2020 - 09:45 PM

Emily in Paris [1] hit Netflix on Oct. 2, and what has followed is some pretty mixed reviews from fans and critics alike. While the show offers the perfect escape with dreamy shots of Paris and beautiful clothes [2], it also includes some pretty complicated romances [3]. Case in point, the love triangle between Emily, her hot neighbour Gabriel [4], and her close friend Camille, who just so happens to be dating the second-mentioned [5]. Though Emily and Gabriel start off as friends, things between them eventually escalate throughout the first season.

In the season one finale, Emily and Gabriel spend the night together, opening the door for a bucket load of problems if the show gets renewed for a season two [6]. Listen, I love a good onscreen love triangle just as much as the next person, but the question is: do we really need it? If the writers are looking for storylines that aren't a love triangle, we have plenty of ideas! Read ahead for all the hopes we have for season two.

More Fabulous Fashion

One thing that really caught my eye in the first season was all the incredible fashion. While Emily has a few memorable looks, Camille and Mindy's fashion game is equally as fierce. See: Camille's dress above. I would definitely love to see more spotlight on Camille's looks!

Emily and Mindy Having Fun Adventures

We only got a few glimpses of Emily and Mindy's friendship in the first season, but man do they know how to have a good time. Now that they're roommates, they'll definitely be spending more time together, which means plenty more opportunities for fun outings together.

Mindy Being More Than Just the Hilarious Best Friend

Speaking of Mindy, I need more Ashley Park on my screen! While I certainly loved her witty one-liners throughout the first season, Mindy deserves more of storyline than just being Emily's best friend. Some of the most interesting parts of season one were learning more about her backstory and meeting her friends. And don't even get me started on her singing [7]! When you have a Tony nominee in your midst, you need to give her more solos!

Emily and Sylvie Supporting Each Other

Throughout the first season, Emily and Sylvie are constantly at odds with each other, but in season two, I'd love to see them put aside their differences and actually work together. Maybe it's too much to ask that Sylvie become a mentor for Emily, but I would definitely love to see them support each other in their careers.

Emily's Coworkers Getting More Screen Time

Let's be real, Julien and Luc deserve more screen time as well. While it's great to watch their dynamic with Emily play out at work, I'd love to see what their lives look outside of Savoir. Maybe we can even have a Julien and Luc centric episode next season!

Emily Actually Learning About French Culture

Oh, Emily. Girl needs a serious lesson in French culture, like yesterday. We get it, the first season is supposed to be about her acting like a tourist in a new city, but it would be great if she could at least, you know, learn the language. Maybe instead of forcing the "American perspective" on Savoir, Emily and her coworkers can actually work together and learn from each other.

Emily Apologising to Camille and Repairing Their Friendship

You knew this one was coming. While I love Gabriel as much as the next person, is he really worth Emily losing one of her only friends in Paris? Instead of watching a complicated love triangle between Emily, Camille, and Gabriel unfold, I'd rather see Emily put her time and energy into mending her relationship with Camille.
