Emma 2020 Movie Trailer

Anya Taylor-Joy is Matchmaking and Mischief-Making in the Trailer For Emma

A new movie adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma is coming, and we have our first look at what to expect from this classic with a twist, which stars actress Anya Taylor-Joy as the eponymous Miss Woodhouse. If the new trailer is anything to go by, the success of irreverent period drama The Favourite has been a huge influence, with director Autumn de Wilde putting plenty of emphasis on the comedic aspects of the story.

Emma is often regarded as one of Austen's sillier works, something which no doubt explains its influence on popular culture — lest we forget, Clueless is a modern retelling of the story, which focuses on a beautiful, rich, spoiled young woman intent on matchmaking all her friends. Joining Taylor-Joy are a whole host of British stars, including Josh O'Connor (aka The Crown's new Prince Charles), Bill Nighy, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald star Callum Turner, and Lovesick's Johnny Flynn as Mr Knightley. Watch the trailer for yourself now, then catch the movie in cinemas on Feb. 14, 2020.
