Emma From Friends Responds to Chandler's 2020 Joke

It May Have Taken 16 Years, but Emma From Friends Just Responded to Chandler's 2020 Joke

We never got to see Ross and Rachel's daughter, Emma, fully grow up on Friends, but we're happy to confirm that, as a real-life teenager, she has perfect comedic timing. Noelle Sheldon — who played the infant on the show along with her twin sister, Cali, back in seasons nine and ten — kicked off the new decade earlier this week by hilariously responding to an old joke Chandler made about the year 2020 in an episode from season 10.

"Just woke up from the best nap of all time, happy 2020!! (ft. my poorly done photoshop)," the 17-year-old captioned a selfie of herself holding a Central Perk coffee cup. "Hope everyone has an excellent year full of family, friends, and laughter!!"

The joke Sheldon is referencing in her caption is from the Friends episode that aired on Oct. 23, 2003 titled "The One With the Cake." In it, Ross and Rachel throw Emma a birthday party that Monica and Chandler aren't too thrilled to attend since it interferes with a romantic getaway they had previously made plans for. When Ross asks the couple to film a special message for Emma to see on her 18th birthday, Chandler cheekily responds saying, "Hi, Emma. It's the year 2020. Are you still enjoying your nap?" Monica then follows with, "We're Aunt Monica and Uncle Chandler, by the way — you may not recognise us because we haven't spoken to your parents in 17 years."

Sheldon's 18th birthday technically is still a few months away, but the comeback was still pretty solid. Watch the scene in question below.
