Fans of Jerry Spinelli's YA novel [1] Stargirl have waited years for an onscreen adaptation, and it's finally here [2], courtesy of Disney+, and with a top-notch cast. The teenage cast members are talented musicians [3] and experienced actors with serious résumés despite their young ages, and the adults in the cast include some of TV's favourite dramatic actors. All in all, with a cast like this, we're even more excited to see the movie! Stargirl is scheduled to be released for streaming on Disney+ on March 13, so in the meantime, take a look at who you'll see on screen (and where you've seen them all before).

Grace VanderWaal as Susan "Stargirl" Caraway

VanderWaal plays the free-spirited "Stargirl" who gives the show its title. She's definitely not a newcomer to the entertainment industry, although this is her first major acting gig. For the past several years, she's been building a music career, starting with YouTube covers and heading through an America's Got Talent win and several touring gigs, both on her own and with major music stars.

Graham Verchere as Leo Borlock

Verchere plays Leo, the show's protagonist, who's just trying to blend in with his fellow high school students. He's already racked up some great acting credits, including playing the younger version of Shaun Murphy on The Good Doctor and recurring roles on Fargo and Supergirl.

Giancarlo Esposito as Archie Brubaker

There's no doubt that Esposito is the most well-known and acclaimed member of the main cast. He's best known for his Emmy-nominated role on Breaking Bad as drug kingpin Gus Fring. Stargirl isn't his first foray into the Disney family: he played the Magic Mirror on ABC's Once Upon A Time and has returned to TV villainy as Moff Gideon on The Mandalorian.

Darby Stanchfield as Gloria Borlock

Stanchfield, who plays Leo's mother Gloria, is best known for her role as Abby Whelan on Scandal. She's also set to star in another streaming series, albeit one very different from Stargirl: the Netflix horror show Locke & Key, debuting in February.

Karan Brar as Kevin

Brar, playing Leo's BFF Kevin, is definitely a familiar face for Disney fans. His best-known role is as Ravi Ross on the Disney Channel show Jessie and its spinoff Bunk'd.

Maximiliano Hernández as Mr. Robineau

If Hernández, who will play teacher Mr. Robineau, looks familiar, there's a good reason for that. He played the dubious SHIELD agent Jasper Sitwell across several Marvel TV and film projects.

Shelby Simmons as Hillari Kimble

Simmons's role as Hillari will reunite her with a former Disney Channel costar: she was on Bunk'd along with Brar! She also had a role on Andi Mack for three episodes in 2018.
