Brr, it's cold in here! The Clovers and Toros captains are back together to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Bring It On, which originally premiered on Aug. 25, 2000. On Tuesday, Gabrielle Union (Isis) and Kirsten Dunst (Torrance Shipman) reunited virtually with director Peyton Reed and writer Jessica Bendinger to discuss the cultural impact the film continues to have two decades later, who the real villain was, and what a true sequel might look like.
Though the first Bring It On movie was followed by five direct-to-video sequels, none of them featured the same cast members or storylines from the original. During their 43-minute reunion chat, the group tossed around ideas for a possible follow-up to the film and they drew major inspiration from Netflix's Cheer. While Union brainstormed Isis and Torrance co-heading the PTA, Dunst suggested they could be a running a "cheer school like Cheer." "Like, Cheer, where we decide who's on the mat, the would-be Jerrys of the world," Union added excitedly.
While Union and Dunst unfortunately didn't perform any cheers from Bring It On, the actresses did reminisce on fun memories from shooting the film and the one-liners fans still shout out them.
