Award season has officially commenced thanks to the Golden Globes. On Sunday night, the ceremony honoured various movie and TV shows from the past year. Daniel Kaluuya was the first winner [1] of the night for best supporting actor in Judas and the Black Messiah [2], followed by first-timers like Andra Day for The United States vs. Billie Holiday and Anya Taylor-Joy for The Queen's Gambit, and historic wins from director Chloé Zhao for her film Nomadland [3].
When the nominations were first announced [4] earlier this month, they were met with some mixed reactions from fans. While female directors received historic nominations [5], there was also a glaring lack of diversity [6] within the nominees. Most recently, stars spoke out against the Hollywood Foreign Press Association after it was reported that the organisation has zero Black members [7]. See which shows and movies took home a Golden Globe ahead!
