Good Girls: Everything You Need to Remember Ahead of the Season 4 Premiere

05/03/2021 - 09:30 PM

Between Rio coming back to life, Agent Turner dying, Boomer escaping from prison, and Beth actually becoming "the boss," season three of Good Girls [1] dropped a lot of bombs in its 11 episodes. It's a good thing the show is returning for a slightly longer fourth season — 16 episodes this time — to tie up all those loose ends. Especially with two new FBI agents hot on the three leads' trail and in possession of Ruby's phone, we can't wait to see how the rest of the drama unfolds come March 7 when it returns to NBC (and March 8 for Hulu next-day streaming). In case you need a refresher, here's where everyone's story left off by the end of season three.

What Happens to Beth in Good Girls Season 3?

Struggling to process her guilt after Rio's death, Beth takes it upon herself to befriend Rio's baby mama, Rhea. Without Rio, Beth's financial stability is crumbling, and she ends up accepting money from Rhea for her mortgage payments, which only serves to further fuel her guilt. To make ends meet, Beth begins working at a stationery shop, where she meets a graphic designer who later helps Beth design the money plates for her counterfeiting press. Shortly after, she's forced to reveal the new money laundering business to Rio's gang in order to stay alive. After Dean destroys one of the plates for her counterfeiting press, both her marriage and her business are on the rocks again.

What Happens to Annie in Good Girls Season 3?

Annie makes the decision to attend therapy and develops an unhealthy, flirtatious relationship with her therapist that escalates to Annie trying to manipulate him to break up with his fiance. After her therapist is brutally honest with her, Annie gets her priorities straight, and resumes studying for her GED. By the end of the season, Annie is inspired to become an EMT after saving Ruby's life following a shooting.

What Happens to Ruby in Good Girls Season 3?

Ruby takes on a side job working at a nail salon, and begins stealing bottles of Creamsicle Sunset to airbrush onto the counterfeit bills. Around the same time, Ruby gets news that her husband is eligible to return to the force, and tries to sabotage the suspension review, worried that him being in law enforcement again might ruin the new money laundering business. Things take a turn for the worst when a federal agent discovers Ruby's nailpolish hack and issues a recall of Creamsicle Sunset. Ruby then enlists the help of her daughter, who she finds out has been pawning expensive heirlooms for money.

What Happens to Rio in Good Girls Season 3?

The first episode of season three brings two revelations — that Rio survived Beth's gunshot wound and that he's Agent Turner's confidential informant. Rio doesn't keep up his end of his bargain with the FBI, and ends up killing Agent Turner, halting the ongoing investigation against Beth, Annie, and Ruby. When Beth and Rio reunite, he threatens to kill her, leading Beth to falsely claim she is pregnant with his child. Beth later hires an expert marksman, desperate to get rid of Rio once and for all.

What Happens to Boomer in Good Girls Season 3?

In a flashback to three months prior, we get a glimpse of Boomer devouring his last meal as a free man and getting face tattoos in preparation for his future in the slammer. But we soon find out that Boomer isn't there to stay. To get back on Rio's good side, Beth asks him for another job, which ends up being travelling across the country to pick up Boomer, who has escaped prison after starting a fire. Boomer asks the girls to make a stop by his Nana's house before being dropped off in Canada, but upon arriving, they learn that Nana has died in her sleep a week earlier.
