Almost Everyone in Netflix's Hubie Halloween Has Been in an Adam Sandler Movie Before

10/09/2020 - 09:20 PM

The Adam Sandler [1] comedy Hubie Halloween is just one of several new movies and shows coming to Netflix this Halloween [2], and we couldn't be more excited! Centreed on a series of strange goings-on in the town of Salem — and one man's quest to get people to notice [3] what's happening — the movie reunites a bunch of comedy faves all in one star-studded cast. Like many prolific people in Hollywood, Sandler definitely has some collaborators he likes to work with a lot [4], and some of them show up in this cast, but there are also plenty of exciting newcomers to watch out for. Keep reading to see which stars are set to appear in Hubie Halloween and how many of them have worked with Sandler before!

Adam Sandler

Sandler is returning to family comedies after the surprise success of last year's crime thriller Uncut Gems. His production company, Happy Madison, is also behind the movie, in which he plays Hubie, a Salem resident who thinks he's uncovered a mysterious set of disappearances.

Kevin James

James plays one of the cops that Hubie has to convince that something is afoot in their town. He's worked with Sandler a lot of times before, including three consecutive movies in consecutive years from 2007 to 2009: I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, You Don't Mess With the Zohan, and Paul Blart: Mall Cop. Most recently, they worked together on the Netflix movie Sandy Wexler.

Julie Bowen

The Modern Family star actually goes way back with Sandler: she starred with him in 1996's Happy Gilmore!

Ray Liotta

The screen legend is working with Sandler for the first time — which is unsurprising, given that his career has been as far from comedy as it gets. He's best known for his work in crime thrillers such as Goodfellas and John Q, and, more recently, the procedural series Shades of Blue.

Tim Meadows

He's best known to a certain generation of fans as Principal Duvall from Mean Girls [5], but he's a bona fide comedy legend! Meadows is one of the longest-running cast members in Saturday Night Live [6] history and most recently has played John Glascott on The Goldbergs and its spinoff Schooled. This won't be his first collaboration with Sandler, either: they've worked together on several movies, including Grown-Ups and its sequel, as well as the notorious flop Jack and Jill.

June Squibb

The Oscar nominee isn't part of Sandler's mainstay group of comedians, but we're super excited to see what this incredibly versatile actress will do in a Halloween [7] comedy!

Michael Chiklis

Chiklis, an Emmy winner for his role on The Shield, has spent most of his career in crime, drama, and sci-fi projects. His resume also includes roles on No Ordinary Family, American Horror Story [8], and Gotham. This will be his second time appearing in a Sandler film on Netflix, having previously played Carmine in 2016's The Do-Over.

Shaquille O'Neal

You might be surprised to learn that the basketball legend has actually appeared in one of Sandler's movies before! He had a cameo as himself in Jack and Jill back in 2011, and he appeared as "Officer Fluzoo" in Grown-Ups 2. No word yet on if his Hubie Halloween [9] character will be an actual character or a fictionalized version of himself.

Kenan Thompson

Thompson is set to play one of the cops Hubie sets out to get on his side to investigate strange happenings in Salem. The Emmy-winning SNL star is currently the longest-running member of the show's cast in history!

Rob Schneider

Schneider is one of Sandler's most frequent collaborators, dating all the way back to their shared time on SNL in the early 1990s. Longtime fans might know that they have a running gag between them, frequently showing up in each other's movies just in cameo roles to deliver the line "You can do it!" or some variation thereof.

Karan Brar

The former Disney Channel star has plenty of roles on his resume for his young age, having appeared in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movies and Stargirl, as well as Jessie and its spinoff Bunk'd.

George Wallace

Wallace is a legend in the stand-up comedy world, but he's only worked with Sandler once before. Back in 2002, he had a small role in Sandler's comedy film Mr. Deeds.

Paris Berelc

Berelc is definitely one of Hollywood's rising stars to watch! Her credits so far include the Disney XD series Mighty Med and its spinoff Lab Rats: Elite Force, as well as a role as one of the title characters on Netflix's Alexa and Katie.

China Anne McClain

You definitely recognise McClain from her Disney Channel role as Uma, Ursula's pirate daughter, in the Descendants series. But did you know she's worked on a Sandler movie before? She appeared as a child in the 2010 comedy Grown Ups as the daughter of Chris Rock [10]'s character.

Ben Stiller

Aside from a brief cameo from Stiller in Happy Gilmore, these two aren't frequent collaborators. However, they did both star in Sandler's 2017 Netflix dramedy, The Meyerowitz Stories.

Noah Schnapp

The Stranger Things [11] star is branching out from the sci-fi role that made him famous. This movie marks his first comedy film, although he did star in a comedy series, the YouTube Premium show Liza on Demand, back in 2018.

Steve Buscemi

Over the course of his career, Buscemi has appeared as nine different characters throughout Sandler's filmography. Their collaborations started with 1994's Airheads and have continued for almost thirty years at this point!

Maya Rudolph

Along with their shared history at SNL, Rudolph and Sandler have been in three movies together and counting. Rudolph appeared in a supporting role in 2004's 50 First Dates, then took on roles in Grown Ups and its sequel.
