ITV has just dropped the trailer for its brand-new reality dating show The Cabins, and confirmed its release date in one go — and yes, we couldn't be more excited. Love Island fans will know that earlier this year the bosses at ITV made the decision to postpone the hit reality TV series until summer 2021 [1], meaning that a winter version of the show won't be hitting our screens in the new year. Instead, it looks like The Cabins is here to save the day and not only fill ITV2's January schedule, but also the Love Island [2]-shaped hole in your life.

The new dating show [3] will see twelve hopeful singletons retreat to secluded cabins in the British countryside to spend 24 hours getting to know each other before deciding whether they want to couple up and move into one of the three cabins together, or call it a day. It sounds like proper back-to-basics dating, as the contestants will be given no choice but to open up to each other about their dating history and hopes for the future away from the distractions of their phones.

As we see in the first-look trailer, the cabins the couples will be cosying up in are kitted out with some pretty amazing amenities. Each luxurious log cabin boasts a hot tub, games, romantic outdoor seating, and a fully equipped kitchen, allowing contestants free rein to fill their 24-hour date with whatever they fancy. As is par for the course with reality dating shows, we expect The Cabins will have its fair share of hits and misses, as some contestants find true love while others find themselves counting down the hours on the clock until their date is over.

Speaking about the new show, Paul Mortimer, ITV's head of digital channels and acquisitions, said, "This is a fantastic new format which challenges young people to delete the apps and attempt to date face-to-face, with no distractions. We're thrilled to be bringing this show to ITV2 viewers who will have front row seats, eavesdropping on our couples as they attempt to find true love."
