Jake Thomas Gives an Update on the Lizzie McGuire Reboot

Jake Thomas Gives a Lizzie McGuire Reboot Update: "I Think Everything's Going to Work Out"

Don't worry, Lizzie McGuire fans — there's still hope for the reboot, according to Jake Thomas. The actor, who made Matt McGuire famous, recently sat down for a virtual interview with fellow Disney Channel star Christy Carlson Romano to revisit the show and chat about the future. Romano and Thomas waxed nostalgic about the early 2000s as they watched old episodes from season one, and of course, she couldn't help but ask for an update on the show's revival.

Fans were originally overjoyed when the Lizzie McGuire reboot started filming in partnership with Disney+, but things took a turn when production halted in January and the show's original creator Terri Minsky stepped down as showrunner. Hilary Duff pleaded with Disney to let the series move to Hulu so her character could have an appropriately grown-up storyline, and there's been little news since. However, Thomas makes it sound like there's a chance we'll see the McGuire family again!

"I think everything's going to work out," he told Romano. "I'm hopeful." We'll take it! Watch the video above to see Thomas and Romano's full chat.
