Jenna Ortega is gearing up for her "Saturday Night Live [1]" hosting debut, which involves some "Wednesday [2]" references, of course. In the lead-up to the actor's 11 March episode, the 20-year-old filmed a hilarious skit with the Please Don't Destroy sketch comedy group, during which she tries to convince them not to make her do the viral "Wednesday" dance [3]. However, that's ultimately what she does by the end of the video. I mean, can you think of a better way to promote her big night on the show?
Following Ortega's epic performance as the titular morbid character [4] in Netflix's hit "Wednesday" series, she reprises her 2022 "Scream" role [5] as Tara in the sixth instalment [6] of the franchise, which hits theatres on Friday. But that's not all we have to look forward to. She's also set to star in her first rom-com, "Winter Spring Summer or Fall," which she also produced, though the film doesn't have a set release date yet.
In the meantime, there's more of Ortega's Wednesday headed our way, with Netflix already giving her show the green light for a second season [7]. But somewhere in between then, the busy actor [8] hopes to take some well-deserved time off. "There's a month of this year that I want to take off, and I've made it very clear that I'm going to take this month off," Ortega told Elle [9] in her April 2023 cover story. "I'm going to travel . . . I'm just going to be hidden for a while."
Before Ortega takes her brief hiatus from Hollywood, check out her new promo video for "Saturday Night Live" and tune in to see her hosting chops this weekend.
