Listen to Jimmy Fallon's It Was A... (Masked Christmas) Song

Jimmy Fallon Casually Makes His Music Debut With Ariana Grande and Megan Thee Stallion . . . Iconic

When The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon announced that he was dropping a new Christmas single and music video with Ariana Grande and Megan Thee Stallion, we were a bit sceptical. Little did we know that the trio's "It Was A... (Masked Christmas)" would be exactly what we needed to get into the festive spirit . . . pandemic style.

"It was a masked Christmas, we stayed in the house / We covered our nose and covered our mouth / But it's Christmas time / We'll be in line for a booster," Fallon and Grande sing in the catchy chorus. And, of course, Megan nails her verse while rocking a nurse costume and holding syringes. "This year's different, you can tell / Deck those halls and jingle bells / Put Purell on everything (What?) / Turkey, egg nog, candy cane (Ooh)," she raps, even rhyming Fallon with Stallion for the win!

On 6 Dec., Fallon first teased the surprise collaboration via Twitter and Instagram. "Guys. I can't believe I'm typing this but – I'm dropping a new single and video tonight with @ArianaGrande and @theestallion," he wrote. As for the song's inspiration? "I wanted to write something reflecting on how tough it was for everyone last year during the holidays and that it's gonna get better," Fallon told the Associated Press. "If we can get people to go get the booster or get the vaccine, that'd be amazing," he added. "If not, hopefully it just makes people smile and have a good time." Watch the music video above!
