Kate Nash is on a mission to tackle sexual abuse and assault in the music industry, and she believes that part of the problem stems from festival lineups that are lacking in gender diversity. On 29 March, the singer shared a post on Twitter that encouraged her fans to reach out and share their stories of negative experiences at festivals. Her caption read "festival line ups that purposely lack diversity and exclude non male acts create unwelcoming and potentially unsafe environments for punters. I'm building a platform to tackle sexual abuse and assault in my industry, and I need your help."

The post that Nash shared outlines a platform that she's created called The Safety Chain. Through collecting the experiences of festival-goers, Nash hopes to draw attention to the problems caused by noninclusive lineups and speak to festival organisers in order to campaign for change. Additional tweets encouraged her followers to reach out to her, with a caption that reads "please email me your negative experiences at festivals related to these issues. Sexism, racism, hate, violence, sexual abuse, assault, rape. Anything you are comfortable sharing will be kept anonymous & used as data for research. Music industry I'm comin' for u. #changethescene" and "Please email thesafetychain2020@gmail.com with your unsafe music festival experiences. And share this pic to spread the word. Cheers."
