All the Familiar Voices in Netflix's Klaus

All the Familiar Voice Actors You Can Expect to Hear in Netflix's Klaus

You've probably heard several versions of Santa Claus's origin story, but we have a feeling you haven't heard one quite like the story told in Klaus. Netflix's newest animated holiday flick — which marks the directorial debut for Sergio Pablos, cocreator of Despicable Me. It tells the story of a desperate young postman whose unlikely friendship with a reclusive toymaker leads to the invention of Santa Claus. Not only is the animation beautiful and the story totally adorable — the cast of voice actors is also totally stacked. Here are all the voices you might recognise when Klaus hits Netflix on Nov. 15.

Jason Schwartzman as Jesper

Actor, producer, and frequent Wes Anderson collaborator Jason Schwartzman voices Jesper, a shy postman who — after earning a reputation as the worst student at the postal academy — is condemned to Smeerensburg, a frozen island above the Arctic Circle, where letters are never exchanged and where he forms an unexpected friendship with a kindly teacher and a mysterious toymaker.

J. K. Simmons as Klaus

Legendary actor J. K. Simmons provides the voice for the titular Klaus, a reclusive carpenter whom Jesper discovers living alone in a cabin, where he makes his own handmade toys.

Rashida Jones as Alva

Rashina Jones — whom you probably know as Ann Perkins from Parks and Recreation — voices Alva, a local teacher who befriends Jesper and helps him concoct a plan to bring some holiday spirit to Smeerensburg.

Joan Cusack as Mrs. Krum

Former SNL cast member Joan Cusack, whom you might recognise as Sheila Jackson from Shameless (or as the voice of Jessie in the Toy Story franchise) provides the voice for Mrs. Krum, a cranky older resident of Smeerensburg who leads a rebellion against Jesper's good-hearted operation.
