Kristen Stewart on Petition to Be Robert Pattinson's Joker

Kristen Stewart Didn't Exactly Say No to Playing the Joker Opposite Robert Pattinson — There's Hope!

As a Twilight fan and someone who binge-watched all the movies on Netflix, I would lose it if Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were costars again. Fans have been petitioning for Stewart to star as the Joker opposite Pattinson's Bruce Wayne/Batman in the 2022 film The Batman, and she's not exactly saying no — or yes. During an interview with Variety on Wednesday, Stewart reacted to the social media campaign for her to be Batman's nemesis, chuckling as she said, "I love the energy behind that." She later explained that she probably wouldn't want to take on the Joker because it's "been done so well", but she'd be "totally down" to star alongside Pattinson in the film as "a freaky, scary person". I don't know what the vision is there, but I'll take it!

Stewart was further pressed on whether or not being the murderous clown is a definite no for her if she was offered the part, to which she replied, "Not 'no,' but not the most stoked I've ever been. Let's do something new." The Batman film, coming out in March 2022, doesn't seem to have a Joker. But we do know Zoë Kravitz will be the iconic Catwoman/Selina Kyle, and I have a feeling she'll do the role justice.

Fans have also petitioned for Stewart to be Catwoman opposite her ex. Last year, she told Entertainment Tonight that although it "would've been a blast", she's "really good friends with Zoë" and also "proud of Rob". She added, "I can't wait to see this movie. So, like, sure, that is a funny idea but the real version is going to be sick."

Stewart and Pattinson met while filming the first Twilight movie, which was released in 2008. In the series, their characters were love interests, and the two began dating shortly after. Their relationship sent fans into a frenzy, and many took their 2013 breakup personally — especially after Stewart cheated on Pattinson with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, who was married to model Liberty Ross at the time. Years later, she opened up about not defining her sexuality and is now in a relationship with screenwriter Dylan Meyer. As for Pattinson, he's been dating Suki Waterhouse since 2018.
