Lady Gaga is returning to the silver screen, and this time, she'll be playing quite the different character. A year after the premiere of A Star Is Born, the 33-year-old multihyphenate has been cast in a movie about the murder of a member of the Gucci family fashion empire, Deadline reports. Gaga will be at the centre of the assassination story, portraying Patrizia Reggiani, the ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci (the grandson of founder Guccio Gucci). Nicknamed the "Black Widow," Reggiani was tried and convicted of arranging for her ex-spouse to be killed — on the steps of his office, might I add — back in the '90s, and she spent 18 years in jail before being released three years ago. The film, which has yet to be given an official title, will be directed by Ridley Scott and based on the book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed.

This is Gaga's first acting role since starring in A Star Is Born alongside Bradley Cooper last year. She won the Oscar for best original song for writing the heart-wrenching track "Shallow" and was also nominated for best actress. Could this upcoming movie possibly score her another Academy Award?
