Last Night in Soho Takes Place Across Central London, Through These Famous Spots

Founded in 1666, the Truman Brewery is one of London's largest breweries in history. Now famous for its fashion week events and exhibitions, the popular building features in the final scene of Last Night in Soho, where a London College of Fashion show takes place for its first-year students.

Anya Taylor-Joy, who plays Sandy in the film, is eager to become a singer in one of the most famous London venues, Cafe de Paris — and here's a fun fact: she actually does the singing herself. Another famous venue that's showcased in the film is Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, which hosts a number of live musicians and jazz performances to this day.

Ellie, played by Thomasin McKenzie, is an aspiring fashion designer studying at London College of Fashion. For anyone studying fashion in London, or anyone who's even been to Carnaby Street for that matter, you'll have heard of Liberty. One of London's most famous department stores, it's particularly well known for its haberdashery department and Christmas shop.

London College of Fashion is one of the many campuses that are part of University of Arts London, one of the most popular places to study art and fashion in the UK. As Ellie (Thomasin McKenzie) studies at LCF in the film, a lot of the scenes take place at LCF's John Princes Street building, located in Oxford Circus.

Empire Cinema is located in Haymarket near Leicester Square, which is essentially the UK's biggest film district. In Last Night in Soho, Taylor-Joy attends a screening of Thunderball at the cinema, which still exists today.

The Toucan is an Irish pub in Soho known for its shrine-like serving of the drink Guinness. During the film, Ellie attends a night out at the pub, and eventually finds herself her first job in London. Back in the sixties, the pub was known as "the knuckles bar" because the likes of Jimi Hendrix and The Animals played there, according to the film's co-writer, Krysty Wilson-Cairns.

Café de Paris features early on in the film, as one of London's most popular venues. According to Edgar Wright, the scene was shot around the corner from the venue, with the entrance fully restored to its former sixties glory. First established in 1924, the venue sadly closed down back in 2020, as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
