Laura Whitmore Will Not Be Hosting Winter Love Island 2023

Laura Whitmore Announces She's Not Hosting the Next Series of "Love Island"

LONDON, ENGLAND - AUGUST 18: Laura Whitmore attends the launch of 'Let's Talk: How To Have Better Conversations

She's been the anchor of "Love Island" for the last three seasons, but on 22 Aug., Laura Whitmore announced she would be absent from the next series. The 37-year-old has been at the helm of the reality TV show since 2020, when she took over from the late Caroline Flack, but revealed she has conflicting projects that clash with the winter "Love Island" series, due to start early 2023.

"Some news! I won't be hosting the next series of Love island. There are certain elements of the show I've found very difficult that cannot be changed some due to the format, including the flying back and forth to South Africa along with my new conflicting projects," Whitmore captioned her Instagram post.

The TV presenter poignantly ended her social media post with a message for her friend: "I wish it was still possible but know you'll be in safe hands. I was only planning to fill in for Caroline for a series and it turned into 3 series. I hope I did you proud Caroline ❤️."

Fans were quick to comment on her post, with celebrities, including former Islanders Faye Winter and Demi Jones, expressing how much they'll miss the presenter. There is no word yet as to who will be replacing Whitmore, who has a child with husband and "Love Island" narrator Iain Stirling, but speculation has already begun. MTV's "Catfish UK" host Nella Rose has been mentioned in social media debates, as has BBC Radio 1 presenter Clara Amfo and TV host Maya Jama.

As Whitmore prepares to tread the boards in London's West End play "2:22 A Ghost Story", only time will tell if the TV star will return to the summer series next year. As she expresses that she found some of the show's format "very difficult" — there were many complaints surrounding misogynistic behaviour this year — it might be a big stretch to see the star back in the Majorcan villa. Either way, we've loved seeing her slo-mo struts and showstopping outfits for the last two years. Whitmore, you've been our type on paper.
