Last night's episode of Love Island [1] sparked some pretty intense debate on social media, for more reasons than one. New girls, controversial games, and heated conversations meant that the islanders had a lot to deal with, and as a result, fans of the show watching at home had a lot of opinions. The general consensus so far, though, is that Hugo is very much allowed to have a preference, Faye and Sharon didn't need to go as hard as they did, and Brad (as expected) is about to break Rachel's heart.

The episode ended with the arrival of two new girls [2], unsurprisingly both "leggy blondes", which seem to be the preferred type across the board this series. It appears that the new arrivals are absolutely here to "step on toes" and ruffle feathers, and by the looks of the existing girls' faces at brunch when they found out about them, they're already doing a pretty good job.

Read on to find out more about the most significant moments from episode eight of Love Island.

Aaron Saying That He's Turned Off by Hairy Arms on a Girl

One of the most talked-about parts of the episode was of course the drama that ensued between Hugo, Sharon, and Faye, but why aren't we talking about Aaron's comment? During the "Knowing Me, Knowing You" game, the contestants were asked to write down their biggest turn-off in a partner, with Aaron's being "hairy arms".

Despite the fact that people do tend to have preferences in terms of their romantic partners, it feels unfair that Aaron's biggest turn-off is a natural part of the human body.

Faye Talking About Getting a Boob Job at 18

Following the game, Faye and Hugo had a chat about why Hugo's "fake" comment upset her so much. Faye explained that she'd been insecure about her body from a young age, and told Hugo that her parents had paid for her to have a boob job when she was 18.

Fans on Twitter felt that the story was a little unnecessary, and didn't like the fact that she used it to make Hugo (who also had to have surgery due to a disability) feel bad about his preferences.

Sharon Comparing Racial Preference to Surgery

During a conversation with Hugo about the game, Sharon likened his preference for "natural" girls to her having a preference about race or height. Understandably, viewers at home were not impressed.

Despite a number of fans understanding why Sharon and Faye might have taken Hugo's comments personally, there was definitely a general consensus that equating physical preferences to racial preferences was not OK.

The Entire "Knowing Me, Knowing You" Game

While parts of the game caused drama in the villa, one question in particular allowed islanders to be incredibly open about the work they'd had done. For younger viewers, and those who are prone to feeling insecure about their bodies whilst watching similar shows, it opened up the conversation around cosmetic surgery and increased the awareness surrounding it.

2 New Blond Girls Entering the Villa

Once again, Love Island, in a shock to absolutely no one, brought two new blondes into the villa. This series in particular has seen more "bombshells" dropped into the villa than most, but it seems to continually play into the stereotype of the desirable "leggy blonde", which fans of the show are getting a little bit tired of.
