Love Island Editing Mistakes

"Love Island" Fans Spot Another Editing Error as Tanya's Outfit Changes in Seconds

"Love Island" is our not-so-guilty pleasure. With the extra winter "Love Island" series currently on our screens, and the first hosted by Maya Jama, we've been consumed with Casa Amor drama, recouplings, and Jama's outfits. While we become obsessed with the relationships, there is another element of the reality show that has been thrust into the spotlight: the editing blunders.

The episode which aired on 21 Feb. seemed to show Islander Tanya Manhenga suddenly change from a black fitted maxi dress to a denim minidress causing viewers to comment on the seemingly bizarre out-of-sequence switch. "Wait when did Tanya put the denim outfit on? Hahahaha," one tweeted. Others took to social media to comment on the show being staged.

Now, we know there is a little nudge from producers regarding who the Islanders should speak to, but it's a tough gig to work on the show. Reality TV thrives on its fast-paced editing, so surely we can forgive a little slip-up here and there. With the Islanders being filmed 24/7, there is a lot of work to be done post-production to fit into the neat hour-long slot. And if truth be told, we love an editing blunder.

Over the years, there's been disappearing heads, super-quick clothes changes, and even teleportation across series seven and eight. Ahead, take a look at the hilarious "Love Island" scenes that are not as seamless as you first thought.

Catch "Love Island" every night on ITV and ITVX at 9pm.

TikTok was awash with eagle-eyed fans picking up on Tanya Manhenga's outfit confusion. While she started the episode, which aired on 21 Feb., wearing a black maxi dress, the scene cut to the girls in the changing room where she was spotted in a denim strapless dress. Later in the episode, and seemingly the next evening, she was wearing this same denim outfit, despite the timeline having us believe the changing room scene was the night before. Confused? So were the editing team.

Amidst the recoupling chaos in last year's series, social media was set alight as fans noticed Dami Hope became a clone. There was no getting away with this error since it happened during a particularly juicy episode.

The 26-year-old microbiologist, who was coupled up with Indiyah Polack, appeared twice within a single frame. Hope could be seen by the fire pit and then literally behind himself near the sun loungers — all in the same outfit.

Confused viewers turned to Twitter to make sure they weren't the only ones witnessing this sorcery.

One said: "How's Dami at the fire pit and walking off with the girls in the same frame? #LoveIsland"

Another joked about Dami's "mind reading" abilities in a previous episode: "First a clairvoyant and now a magician. Dami is in two places at once!"

While the Islanders are often seen glamming up in the makeup room, Gemma Owen seemed to get ready at a super-quick pace in 2022's series.

We saw Owen switching from one outfit to another earlier on in the series, before suddenly being featured in the original ensemble. She was initially seen wearing white cargo pants and a fitted bodysuit. A scene that followed saw her switch to a fitted midi dress as she made her way to talk to Luca Bish. When we see Owen and Bish again just seconds later, the 19-year-old is suddenly donning the cargo pants again.

One TikTok user showcased the curious mistake, captioning her video "quick outfit change that."

In the comments, a fan noted: "She was in the dress again walking away 😬"

Another pointed out: "Why is nobody noticing it's not just Gemma it's Luca too fml". And they're not wrong. Bish does appear to change from a pair of white Converse and a white T-Shirt to black trainers and a white sweatshirt. Superman had better watch out!

In summer 2021, fans couldn't stop laughing about Faye Winter's disappearing act. The then 26-year-old lettings manager was seen walking down the steps on her way to the swimming pool when her head appeared to leave her body. A viewer noticed the error and posted a video of it on TikTok, saying: "Another editing mistake love island 🤣🤦🏽‍♀️"

In season seven, Kaz Kamwi seemed to pop up in the middle of nowhere during a scene between Liam Reardon, Aaron Francis, and Hugo Hammond on one of the daybeds.

Initially, it is just the boys who are lounging around and chatting. But, in the very next shot, Liam gets up and Kaz is miraculously on the bed cuddling up to Aaron.

Viewers were so obsessed with this transition that we got to see it at every angle on social media.

In the second episode of season seven, the editors made a mistake regarding Brad McClelland's hair, and it did not escape the loyal audience.

The 27-year-old, who was a labourer before entering the villa, was sitting poolside chatting to Chloe Burrows with soaking wet hair. Then, in the blink of an eye, his hair was dry and suspiciously fluffy.

A Twitter-user commented: "Brad's hair and body goes from ringing wet to bone dry in 4 seconds, nice work there #loveisland"
