Life in plastic isn't totally fantastic according to Margot Robbie, who explained how embarrassed she was after photos from Greta Gerwig's upcoming "Barbie" movie leaked online. The photos included a snapshot of Robbie and her co-star Ryan Gosling in vibrant, '80s-inspired roller skating outfits, which Jimmy Fallon pulled up during her appearance on "The Tonight Show." Paparazzi apparently snagged pictures of these costumes while the two were filming in Los Angeles, and they quickly took the internet by storm. "I can't tell you how mortified we were," Robbie told Fallon. "We look like we're laughing and having fun, but we're dying on the inside. Dying. I was like, this is the most humiliating moment of my life."

"We look like we're laughing and having fun, but we're dying on the inside. Dying."

While social media seemed mostly overjoyed by the over-the-top fashion, Robbie said it's the fact that so many people saw her Barbie character out of context that really took her by surprise. When Fallon asked her if she ever expected such a viral response, she replied honestly. "I mean, I knew that we had some exteriors to shoot in L.A. I knew once you were doing exteriors, you're gonna get papped. There's probably going to be a little crowd of people who are going to take notice because, you know, we stand out a little bit in those outfits," she said, to which Fallon responded, "You think?!"

"So I knew there was going to be a little bit of attention, and probably some photos would get out there, but not like it did," Robbie continued. "It was mad. It was like hundreds of people watching." Since that initial shot of Robbie and Gosling skating in their neon knee pads, we've also seen the dynamic duo in coordinating western-themed outfits (including some star-spangled bell bottoms), and Gosling living his best Ken doll life in a two-piece denim set. Sadly, fans will have to wait until July of 2023 to see all of the iconic Barbie fashion the way it was intended: on the big screen.
