Megan Thee Stallion didn't hold back while criticising Drake's new song "Circo Loco," [1] which appears to imply she lied about Tory Lanez allegedly shooting her two years ago. "Stop using my shooting for clout," the Houston rapper tweeted [2] on 4 Nov. "Since when tf is it cool to joke abt women getting shot. . . . Ready to boycott bout shoes and clothes but dog pile on a black woman when she says one of y'all homeboys abused her," she added, along with other comments [3] concerning lyrics from the song on his new collaborative album with 21 Savage [4], "Her Loss."

The Drake lyrics in question state: "This b*tch lie 'bout getting shots, but she still a stallion / She don't even get the joke, but she still smiling." Later in the song, Drake seems to reference her again, rapping, "Shorty say she graduated, she ain't learn enough / Play your album, track one, 'kay, I heard enough." The latter line may be alluding to Megan's graduation from Texas Southern University [5] in 2021.

In an interview with Rolling Stone [6] in June, Megan reported that she and Lanez had a growing friendship until a July 2020 confrontation during which Lanez reportedly shot her [7] feet while yelling. The "Traumazine" artist [8] detailed the traumatic experiences that followed the incident, including hospitalisation for bullet shards in her feet. Lanez, who pleaded not guilty [9], is currently on house arrest as he awaits trial, which is scheduled to begin on 28 Nov.

Megan continued to defend herself on Twitter, adding [10], "People attack me y'all go up for it , i defend myself now I'm doing too much … every time it never ends and this did NOT happen until I came out and said I got shot." Despite the backlash she's received for coming forward with her story, she continues to highlight the importance of supporting and believing victims [11], especially Black women who are speaking up about their trauma.

Whether or not Drake's lyrics are about Megan and Lanez's confrontation is unconfirmed. A representative for Drake did not immediately respond to POPSUGAR's request to comment.
