Michael B. Jordan and his production company, Outlier Society, have teamed up with Amazon Studios to bring a diverse range of movies [1] right to the comfort of your own car. "A Night at the Drive-In" is coming to 20 cities across the country this summer and will feature multicultural voices in the industry [2]. "With this drive-in summer series, I hope that friends and families are able to not only enjoy, but to learn and grow," Jordan said in a press release. "Now more than ever, amplifying Black and Brown stories means engageing culture to speak to hearts and minds about the world we live in. As we use this opportunity to reimagine community and proximity, I am excited that these films will be shared and celebrated all across the country."
A Night at the Drive-In will kick off on July 1, with back-to-back screenings of influential movies [3] at no cost to viewers. It will continue with a fresh set of films every other week through the end of August. Not only will Jordan be highlighting diverse stories [4], but all attendees will receive snacks provided by Black- and Brown-owned businesses, including Path Water [5], Pipcorn Popcorn [6] and Partake Cookies [7].
"When Michael and our friends at Outlier proposed this idea, we instantly agreed there was no better time to celebrate these inspired films featuring diverse stories while bringing communities together to share in the experience," Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios, said. "Drive-in theatres offer a unique experience in that they provide an inspiring and joyful communal experience while still maintaining safe social distance."
