A Look at All the Movie Releases and Productions Affected by the Coronavirus

The latest instalment of the Fast and Furious franchise has been pushed back three times now, though we can't blame cast drama on this recent update. Although the film was meant to originally premiere on April 19, 2019, multiple delays — including the coronavirus — has pushed the release date to April 2, 2021. Hopefully, this date will stick.

Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani's romantic comedy may have been pulled from a theatrical release entirely, but Paramount Pictures managed to work out the perfect solution. The Lovebirds was originally scheduled to hit theatres on April 3, but will instead be available to stream on Netflix on a to-be-announced release date!

Daniel Craig's final mission as James Bond is an adventure worth waiting for, and No Time to Die fans are lucky enough to have a proper date to look forward to. Although the Bond film was originally dropping into theatres on April 10, the film will now premiere on Nov. 12 for the UK and Nov. 25 for the US.

The release of Sony's live-action/CGI family sequel, Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway, has been pushed back from April 3 to Aug. 7. The follow-up features the voices of James Corden, Margot Robbie, and Elizabeth Debicki, with Rose Byrne, Domhnall Gleeson, and David Oyelowo in live-action roles.

The '80s-tastic follow-up to Warner Bros.' Wonder Woman was originally scheduled to hit theatres on June 5. However, the film was pushed back and it lassoed a new premiere date of Aug. 14.

Filming for the third instalment of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them was meant to begin in early March, but mounting concerns over the coronavirus halted production. Though the film is currently on hold, it still has a release date slated for Nov. 12, 2021.

Despite the rush of studios to shut down productions amid the coronavirus pandemic, Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible 7 is still hard at work. While production has halted in Italy, the cast and crew resumed work in the UK. It's unknown whether production will continue considering the concerns over the coronavirus spread, but the film is still slated to drop on July 23, 2021.

Matrix 4 is the last of Warner Bros.' feature productions to be put on hold after production finished shooting in San Francisco and moved on to Germany. Even with a delayed shooting schedule, the film is still expected to hit theatres on May 21, 2021.

Matt Reeves's The Batman had already completed seven weeks of filming in London before production was halted on the Robert Pattinson-led film. But with shooting delayed indefinitely, the film's future is in limbo. For now, the movie is still slated for a June 5, 2021 release.

Jurassic World: Dominion will be bringing some fan-favourites back to the big world of dinosaurs, but folks may have to wait beyond the previously announced release date. Universal halted production mid-shoot in March, delaying production indefinitely. As of now, the film still has a June 11, 2021 premiere scheduled.

Production on the Simu Liu-led Marvel film was temporarily suspended when director Destin Daniel Cretton self-isolated after potentially being exposed to people with coronavirus. However, on March 13, Disney halted filming, leaving production indefinitely on hiatus. As of now, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings still has a release date of Feb. 12, 2021.

The highly anticipated live-action Mulan reboot was originally meant to premiere in theatres on March 27, but closures forced Disney to put the film's release on hold indefinitely. Considering just how many releases the studio is juggling at the moment, we might not see the blockbuster in theatres until August or early September.

The Black Widow standalone flick was officially pulled off Marvel's release schedule on March 17. Originally scheduled for May 1, the film's release has been delayed indefinitely.

Director and writer John Krasinski announced the film's delay on Instagram, explaining that his ultimate wish for the movie would be to have the world to experience it together, so it's been pulled from release. A Quiet Place Part II was set to roll out in the US on March 20, but currently doesn't have a release date.

The Keri Russell-led horror flick was scheduled to premiere on April 17, but was moved off the schedule by Searchlight Pictures. No new release date has been announced.

Josh Boone's The New Mutants has been delayed since it completed its principal photography back in fall 2017 and finally scored a release date of April 3 after Disney's acquisition of 21st Century Fox. But the coronavirus pandemic has pushed the Maisie Williams-featured project back indefinitely.

Although the Disney dramedy based on Charles Dickens's Victorian era novel was already released in the UK on Jan. 24, its May 8 release date for the US has been delayed indefinitely.

Lionsgate delayed the release of Chris Rock's Spiral: From the Book of Saw. Originally set for May 15, the film has no new expected release date.

The suspense thriller that follows a wheelchair-bound teen raised in total isolation by her mother was originally set for May 8, but has been pulled from theatrical release indefinitely.

The Janelle Monáe-led horror flick originally had a release date of April 24, but has been delayed indefinitely.
