This year, it's a heartwarming family musical (with songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda [4]) centreed on Mirabel, a girl who lives with her magically gifted family in the mountains of Colombia in a place called the Encanto — only she's the only member of her family without powers. So when her family's magic is in danger of disappearing, it's up to Mirabel to save them all.

House of Gucci

Adam Driver and Lady Gaga [5] lead an all-star cast in this much-anticipated drama about the infamous murder of fashion maven Maurizio Gucci. Set in 1995, the movie follows the events leading up to and following Gucci's murder and the ripple effects it causes throughout the family and the fashion world.

House of Gucci hits theatres on Nov. 24.

The Humans

Stephen Karam's Tony Award-winning play becomes a movie in this relatably family-centric drama. One Thanksgiving, the entire Blake family gathers to celebrate at Brigid Blake (Beanie Feldstein) and her boyfriend Richard's (Steven Yeun) run-down NYC apartment, but the holiday dinner turns into a slow unraveling of the conflicts and issues that various family members have repressed for years instead.

Halle Berry [7] stars as a disgraced MMA fighter Jackie Justice in this sports movie tale of redemption. After falling from the height of her career, Jackie reenters the ring for one last shot at victory after the 6-year-old son she gave up for adoption comes back into her life.

Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City

If scary movies are your vibe, the latest Resident Evil movie arrives with a funny-sounding title that hides a survival horror setup this Thanksgiving. In a dying town that once hosted a shady pharmaceutical company, evil lurks just beneath the surface, waiting to be unleashed. When it finally breaks through and transforms the residents into something strange, a small group of survivors works together to find out the truth and get out alive.

A Boy Called Christmas

Based on the novel of the same name by Matt Haig, this holiday movie follows a seemingly ordinary boy, Nikolas, who sets out in search of his father, who is on his own quest to discover a legendary village of elves. Accompanied by a reindeer called Blitzen and a mouse, Nikolas encounters his true destiny and learns what true magic really is in this reimagining of the Father Christmas story.

A Castle for Christmas

Brooke Shields [10] and Cary Elwes play the romantic leads in this sweet holiday rom-com. Sophie, a famous author, hopes to buy a castle in Scotland, but the current owner is not thrilled about the idea of selling to a foreigner. As the pair try to find a solution to their impasse, they find themselves unexpectedly falling for each other.
