[4] All of the actors on the HBO drama are on their way to becoming household names (as well as Instagram stars [5]) over the past few months, but chances are you've already heard of a few of them. With acting credits among the cast ranging from The Handmaid's Tale [6] to 12 Years A Slave, here's why you may recognise the actors from 2019's most buzzworthy drama.
Zendaya
Zendaya [8], who plays the complex Rue, [9] got her start on TV by playing Rocky Blue on the Disney Channel series Shake It Up alongside Bella Thorne. She continued her career on the Disney Channel by playing the lead in K.C. Undercover before landing the role of MJ in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home. [10] Additionally, she starred alongside Zac Efron [11] and Hugh Jackman [12] as acrobat Anne Wheeler in The Greatest Showman. [13]
Sydney Sweeney
Sweeney, 22, plays Cassie, and has previously starred as Eden on the dystopian drama The Handmaid's Tale [14] and recently appeared in the 2019 film Once Upon A Time In Hollywood [15] as Snake. You might also know her from her role alongside Amy Adams [16] in the miniseries Sharp Objects [17], and she played Emaline in the one and only season of Netflix's Everything Sucks! [18]
Jacob Elordi
Before playing Nate on Euphoria [19], Elordi's biggest credit was as Noah Flynn in the teenage romantic comedy The Kissing Booth [20]. He's set to reprise his role in the sequel [21] and recently appeared in the horror film The Mortuary Collection.
Eric Dane
Dane, who plays Nate's problematic father Cal Jacobs, is undoubtably best known for playing the womanising ladies' man of Grey-Sloan Memorial Hospital, Mark Sloan aka McSteamy [22] on Grey's Anatomy [23]. Post-Grey's, Dane starred as the lead, Tom Chandler, in action-drama The Last Ship. And, we can't forget that he was in the 2008 tearjerker Marley and Me.
Hunter Schafer
Playing Jules on Euphoria [24] may be Schafer's first acting credit, but she's no stranger to the spotlight, as she originally got her start as a model. She is signed with Elite Models [25] and has walked for designers such as Miu Miu, [26] Dior, [27] and Coach. [28]
Algee Smith
Prior to playing the role of football player McKay in Euphoria [29], Smith starred in the 2017 crime movie Detroit [30] and was heavily praised for his role of Larry Reed. During his younger years, he starred in Disney Channel movies Let It Shine and Earth To Echo.
Barbie Ferreira
Much like her costar Hunter Schafer, Ferreira, who stars as Kat Hernandez, also got her start in the modelling world. She has modelled in campaigns for Aerie, [31] Target, Missguided, and Forever 21. [32] She starred as Ella in HBO's Divorce. [33]
Alanna Ubach
Ubach now stars as the wine-loving mother of Cassie and Lexie on Euphoria [34], but you might recognise her from her role as Serena McGuire in Legally Blonde. [35] She also starred in the 2004 comedy Meet The Fockers and starred as the loudmouthed Jo in Bravo's Girlfriend's Guide To Divorce.
Maude Apatow
With parents as iconic as Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann, [36] it's no wonder you may recognise her in her role as Lexie on Euphoria [37]. She starred alongside her mom and sister in the 2007 comedy Knocked Up, costarred on Lena Dunham's Girls, [38] and starred in the independent film The House of Tomorrow with Alex Wolff and Nick Offerman.
Alexa Demie
The 24-year-old Demie, who plays the role of the complicated Maddy, starred as Estee in Jonah Hill [39]'s critically acclaimed indie film Mid 90s. She has guest starred on the crime drama Ray Donovan and the supernatural thriller The OA.
Austin Abrams
Abrams, who plays Barbie Ferreira's love interest Ethan, is recognisable to any fans of The Walking Dead. [40] He played the role of Ron Anderson in the show's fifth and sixth seasons and guest starred on Shameless [41] and The Americans. [42]
Storm Reid
Storm Reid plays Gia, the little sister of Zendaya [43]'s character, Rue. Most recently, she had a small role in Netflix's When They See Us [44] as the girlfriend of Korey Wise. She snagged the lead role of Meg Murry in A Wrinkle In Time and played Emily in 12 Years A Slave.
