Will Naomi Cross Over to Other Arrowverse Shows?

Here's Why Naomi Won't Explore Any Arrowverse Crossovers Just Yet

Naomi --

The CW's Naomi is off to an exciting start, and the first season promises that its titular character will have the spotlight all to herself. The show's network is home to other DC superhero series such as Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Superman & Lois, Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning, and Batwoman. However, series developer Ava DuVernay said Naomi won't feature any crossovers with the Arrowverse or DC Extended Universe just yet.

"[I]n terms of crossovers, we're not thinking about that right now," DuVernay shared as a "spoiler" during a press event. "She's on her own, she's on her own path . . . We are really just focussed [on Naomi], no crossover. You won't see any crossover [in] season one . . . That's a little breaking news I'll share . . . She is firmly in her story and we are singularly focussed on that journey."

DuVernay did, however, confirm that Naomi includes a lot of material from the original 2019 Naomi comic book written by Brian Michael Bendis, David Walker, and Jamal Campbell. So even though the series will stand alone with its own story for now — which DuVernay refers to as the "Naomi-verse" — that's not to say crossovers won't be explored in the future if/when it's renewed for another season.

Prime example: Superman's brief real-life cameo in the first episode of Naomi, plus his many mentions, serves as a key part of Naomi's (Kaci Walfall) character development. The major stunt twist is a huge deal to Naomi and the rest of the Port Oswego townspeople since the Man of Steel and other superheroes are meant to be fictional in their world. But that assumption proves to be wrong when Naomi discovers these superpowered beings are, in fact, real. So cross your fingers for more potential cameos in seasons ahead as Naomi's story continues to unfold.
