Netflix Shows to Watch When You're High

20 Shows on Netflix That Chronic TV Bingers Should Try Watching While High

Don't ask us why some shows are infinitely better when you're smoking weed, because we don't have an answer. What we do know, however, is that some series on Netflix are basically made for watching while high. Don't get us wrong — all these series are just as fantastic when you're sober. But when you mix these series with weed, you're even more likely to get your mind blown (or get some serious munchies). We've put together a list of shows available to stream on Netflix that pair perfectly with cannabis, so next time you decide to Netflix and blaze, be sure to binge one of these.

1. Tidying Up With Marie Kondo

Marie Kondo, author of Spark Joy and The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, hosts this series as she pays visits to disorganised participants and helps them take the clutter out of their lives, one home makeover at a time. Organisation has never been so satisfying or mesmerising (especially when you're under the influence of the devil's lettuce).

2. Our Planet

From the creators behind Blue Planet and Planet Earth, this eight-part nature docuseries is hosted by renowned British naturalist David Attenborough, taking viewers on a tour of the world's most beautiful and precious natural habitats. Considering that this series would blow the mind of a sober viewer, just wait until you add some Mary Jane.

3. The Great British Baking Show

The unfailingly polite and adorable baking competition series introduces a new group of amateur competitors every season, with the participants hoping to score the title of UK's best baker. This one is sure to give you the munchies (but just promise us you won't try anything too complicated in the kitchen).

5. Big Mouth

Voiced by an all-star cast of comedians that includes Nick Kroll, John Mulaney, Jessi Klein, Jason Mantzoukas, Jenny Slate, Fred Armisen, Maya Rudolph, and Jordan Peele, this raunchy animated series follows a group of friends as they embark on the first stages of puberty. We kind of suspect that Nick Kroll intended this series to be watched while high.

6. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

In this hilariously weird series, a former mole woman, an outrageous out-of-work actor, an eccentric landlord, and a delusional divorcée bumble through dysfunctional relationships and life in New York City. The catchy theme song alone will delight anyone with a buzz.

7. Grace & Frankie

Grace & Frankie revolves around two nemeses-turned-BFFs who both flee to their shared beach house property after their husbands leave them (for each other), and they must learn to live together, despite their very different personalities. If Frankie doesn't become your new pot-loving icon, then you're nuts.

8. Ultimate Beastmaster

This competition show features elite competitors around the world attempting to conquer an insanely demanding obstacle course. Even if you're too stoned to get off the couch, these beasts will make your jaw drop (but please don't attempt these challenges at home).

9. New Girl

This very silly series follows a dysfunctional group of roommates who are bonded by career disappointments, family disputes, and relationship complications (oftentimes involving each other). The show is hilarious enough on its own, but it somehow becomes absolutely riotous when you're high as a kite.

10. Weeds

In this dark comedy, Nancy Botwin (Mary-Louise Parker) is a widowed mother of two trying to make some extra money by selling weed in her suburban neighbourhood while simultaneously navigating an endless parade of problematic men. If you need a sex-positive, pro-weed role model in your life, then this show is for you.

11. American Vandal

This true crime satire revolves around amateur filmmakers Peter and Sam as they take on teenage deviants — such as a phallic-tagging prankster and the mystery "Turd Burglar" — at local high schools. Is it bizarre as heck? Yes. Does it pair perfectly with weed? You betcha.

12. Trailer Park Boys

This long-running Canadian mockumentary revolves around three residents of a Nova Scotia trailer park — Julian, Ricky, and Bubbles — as they attempt get-rich-quick schemes and generally create a lot of trouble for all of their fellow residents. The best part? This series was also adapted in cartoon form.

13. Black Mirror

In this trippy tech-gone-wrong series, every episode tells a new story of everyday individuals taking on (and being tortured by) questionable technology. This one is especially wild when you're smoking bud, but if you have a tendency to feel paranoid while high, avoid this series at all costs.

14. Stranger Things

This insanely popular sci-fi series follows an adolescent crew living in 1980s Indiana as they discover supernatural forces, secret government threats, and a young girl with telekinetic powers. It's a crazy trip, but — just like with Black Mirror — if you suffer from paranoia, you might just find yourself searching for the Demogorgon around every corner.

15. Love, Death, & Robots

Produced by Tim Miller and David Fincher, this adult animated series fluctuates between sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and dark comedy — as well as from 2D to photo-real 3D CGI — to tell 18 thought-provoking stories that will make you see robots in a whole new light. We guarantee that it's stranger and cooler than anything else you've ever seen, and we can only hope that Netflix gives us more of this hypnotic fever dream of a show.

16. Chewing Gum

Chewing Gum is one of quirkiest shows on Netflix, following naive and sexually inexperienced Brit Tracey Gordon (Michaela Coel) as she attempts to learn more about sex, despite coming from an ultrareligious family. Like Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and New Girl, this wonderfully weird series is best watched while under the influence.

17. BoJack Horseman

This adult animated comedy follows the titular BoJack, a humanoid horse who was once the star of a '90s sitcom, but is now a boozed-up, washed-up D-lister hoping to make a Hollywood comeback. Believe it or not, a substance-abusing talking horse makes a lot more sense when you add weed.

18. F Is For Family

This raunchy adult comedy, which is inspired by the life of stand-up comic Bill Burr, revolves around a short-tempered airport worker Frank Murphy, his wife Sue, and their three kids as they grow up (and make trouble) in a 1970s suburb. We can't explain why adult cartoons are even funnier with bud, but it's just a fact.

19. Nailed It!

This Netflix cooking competition — where amateur bakers attempt to recreate elaborate cakes for cash prizes and often find themselves subject to hilarious baking fails — was basically created to make us feel better about all of our Pinterest disappointments. Though the end results are way less pretty than those you'll find on The Great British Baking Show, you'll probably still be left craving some cake.

20. Tuca & Bertie

This adult animated comedy revolves around two 30-year-old bird women — a carefree toucan and an anxious songbird — who live in the same apartment building. Though this one was criminally cancelled after one season, that doesn't make it any less side-splitting (especially when paired with a spliff).
