Netflix Is Starting the Holidays Early With These New Movies and TV Shows

30/09/2020 - 07:10 PM

'Tis the season to binge-watch feel-good movies and drink hot cocoa. Though December is still a while away, that hasn't stopped Netflix from getting a head start on the holiday season — not that we're complaining! While there are plenty of Christmas movies available to stream [1] right now, there are also a handful of new original movies [2] coming out in the next few months, including Holidate in October [3]. There is even a holiday TV series titled Dash & Lily to look forward to! Get ready to experience all the warm and fuzzy feelings with these upcoming titles ahead. And if those releases aren't soon enough for you, see what movies Hallmark has in store [4] next month.

Holidate

Emma Roberts and Luke Bracey star in this rom-com as two singles who hate the holidays and — after meeting on one particularly terrible Christmas — vow to accompany each other to every festive occasion calling for a date throughout the next year.

When it's available: Oct. 28 [6]

Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey

Forest Whitaker stars in this musical about a toymaker named Jeronicus Jangle who enlists the help of his granddaughter when his apprentice steals his most beloved creation.

When it's available: Nov. 13 [7]

Dolly Parton's Christmas on the Square

The upcoming musical follows a woman named Regina who returns home after the death of her father to evict everyone in her hometown right before the holidays. However, after an interaction with an angel (played by Dolly Parton), she begins to get into the holiday spirit and has a change of heart. Not only does the film have a star-studded cast, including Christine Baranski, Jenifer Lewis, Treat Williams, Jeanine Mason, and Josh Segarra, it will also include 14 original songs from Parton.

When it's available: Nov. 22 [8]

The Christmas Chronicles 2

Following the success of 2018's The Christmas Chronicles, Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn [9] are reprising their roles as Santa and Mrs. Claus in the much-anticipated sequel.

When it's available: Nov. 25 [10]

Dash & Lily

Based on the book Dash & Lily's Book of Dares, Austin Abrams and Midori Francis star as two young teens living in NYC with very different outlooks on life who find themselves drawn to each other through a notebook of dares.

When it's available: TBA [11]
