What began as a virtual concert series [1] that featured musicians entertaining social-distancing fans [2] during the coronavirus pandemic, began a full-fledged musical event on an epic scale. A collaborative effort between the World Health Organisation, Global Citizen, and Lady Gaga [3], the first-of-its-kind global broadcast event One World: Together At Home aimed to fight the coronavirus pandemic and celebrate the work of healthcare professionals all over the world.

The April 18 broadcast began with a six-hour live stream on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter, before a two-hour televised event [4] that aired on multiple networks. Gaga curated the superstar-packed lineup of musicians, actors, and comedians who joined the event to thank health professionals, entertain viewers, and remind everyone to continue social distancing [5]. Hosts Jimmy Fallon [6], Jimmy Kimmel, and Stephen Colbert [7] kicked off the event by revealing the broadcast had already raised more than $50 million to combat the coronavirus pandemic, before launching into the night's stellar performances.
